Iv'e seen on the DTR a while back a link that explains what the numbers etc mean ...( year/model/engine/etc/etc)

Has anyone got the link they could post....I had it & lost it.....more curiousity than anything else....

And the dealer can print out the VIN and give you the build data.

 

Maybe the dealer can print the details ....But I'm in the UK....mention anything to our dodge dealer and you get a ohh.err......I'll call you back.( they never do).. I usually find it easier to call a dealership in the USA...they are helpfull...apart from getting spares...they don't like shipping overseas.....

 

I gotsa stupid question. Whats a VIN number? I know what a Vehicle Identification Number is. I know what a VIN is. But what is a VIN number? Is there a secret second number after the first?

 

Ok, so what, if anything, does it mean if my VIN doesn't add up?

All my digits are right EXCEPT, the fifth (I have M in mine) and the one that worries me the most the 8th digit, being engine designation (I have C in mine)

I assume this info was pulled from a FSM, because I believe mine gives basically the same info and I know I've been confused over this before.
Does this mean I've got some Frankenstein concoction of a truck, or (more certainly) that the info listed in the FSM and the above link is not complete?

Anyone else have similar issues?
