Truck got broken into last night...

The rear sliding glass was broken out of my truck last night and all of my CDs stolen. At least the bastard didn't do any more physical damage to the truck. Here's the question:

Since I have to replace the whole rear windows assembly, should I go with the sliding glass again, or should I get a solid rear window? If I get the soild rear (and it has the defroster on it), think the wiring is there to hook it up? Also, does the rear window defroster work off the same button for the heated mirrors, or is there a separate switch for it?

I'm thinking about going with the soild rear just because I can't reach the sliding rear easily, and it might be a bit more of a deterrant should someone wanna poke around again.

Any opinions?

Bummer!!!! :'( Glad it was not worse. For me the decision is a no brainer because I use my slider. Guess you have to decide if you will ever use the slider or not.

Re:Truck got broken into last night...

I've got a friend that does glass, and he told me that the slider will be cheaper. I guess the only thing I'm thinking of now is how much of a liability will it be in the future. Of course, if the price swing is huge from one to the other, I might just go back with the slider. ;D

Re:Truck got broken into last night...

Sorry to read of this mishap.
I gotta tell this one...
Way back in 91' I was walking out to my 90 Ram and heres this guy trying to Jimmy the passenger door.
I act like its not my truck and ask if he needs help.
His reply [in very broken english] was he locked HIS keys in the truck.

So I said; "Here let me help you." He fell against the side of the truck about 4 times before he tripped and landed on the pavement. Whoops

I went back inside and called the police and met them out there. The dude was still laying on the pavement. He really must've fallen hard. :P
Even the police 'assumed' he had fallen and offered to take care if him.

This was in Phoenix Az. Poor guy had the wrong truck. ;D

Sorry to hear about the theft, Hard to believe there are people out there just trying to make a living off stealing what you work so hard to afford.

Like Scotty I had an encounter with a guy who locked himself out of My truck :

He apparently tried to break in through the passenger window with his forehead as the police found him unconscious on the seat, his legs still sticking out the now windowless door.

The nice officer writing up the report told me that it was not common for them to run headlong into a window when attempting to break in. But we both agreed it must have been his broken arm that made him attempt the forehead trick

Funny how many injuries a thief can inflict on himself in the commision of a crime. :

Hopefully this fellow decided on a new career when he got out of the hospital. 8)

One of the very few complaints I have with my truck is that I can't reach the rear slider very easy. I don't know why they don't offer a power slider option on them, one of the extra switch bays by the heated seats would be a perfect place for the switch, oh well.

Personaly I would get a power slider for it.

oh man you guys are funny. i cant understand how people are these days stealing anything they can...im suprised the police didnt expect you guys beat them up......around here in illinois (20 miles away from chicago were i am) if that was the case you would have been brought in to. :- someone broke into my truck at a mall near my and stole my faceplate off my old truck.....i watched him do this then when he got into his civic he got a nice group of guys surrounding his car instantly, well i got my faceplate back and well....too bad for that nice civic that looked like it was in a hailstorm afterwards :

bwahaha!!! And you being the strong man contentder that you are, I can see how he wasn't feeling so well after that encounter. ;D

hahahahahaha!!! Man, you two are gonna have to stop with that stuff. I've got people next to me laughing over those stories. I kinda wish I had been there. Steel toed Dr. Martens are very unforgiving. ;D

So, here's what I've found out. A replacement rear slider is a dealer only item, so I can't get it from my friend who does glass. My local dealer has a slider that came out of an '03 that was replaced under warranty. He's offered it to me for free, but not sure if I wanna worry with it since it was replaced under warranty for someone else.

I think I may go with the solid. The price is high, but I can get it installed for dirt, and I know the guy doing it will make sure it doesn't leak.

Thanks for all the laughs, guys. Makes the loss of my just my CDs seem minimal by comparison to what could have happened. ;D

Re:Truck got broken into last night...

In strongman we do a lot of different stuff.

Last time I did a max bench I was at 505 for 2 reps.
Squat was 775 for one nasty rep
Deadlift 865 for 3 reps
Doubt I can do that right now...as I rarely do those lifts anymore. Getting close though.

Try lifting a 20" diam stone that weighs 370lbs onto a 50" platform... :'( and thats after you lifted 4 prior lighter ones starting at about 265 and up. Plus its a race. And thats usually after doing 4-6 other heavy events.

Arm over arm rope pull is my favorite. ;D

I think my arms are a bit bigger then that.

Re:Truck got broken into last night...

wow, big boys. Does all that lifting make your 'equipment' any longer?

Good stories. Bummer about the window. I'd be so annoyed as would the thief after breaking my window to find all BURNED cds which are worth nothing resale wise. Did you have an alarm on your truck? I've had so many stereo systems stolen that I've given up and decided to settle for sub par factory systems like the infinity. The last one was about 4am in my driveway, in a fairly snooty/ritzy residential area. Sad thing is I was up, and Rufus my rottweiler was growling at the door. I didn't pay much attn, because thats usually a false alarm. Lucky for those punks I didn't open the door, they might have gotten worse than tripping and hitting their head on the truck Officer, he tripped and ripped his neck open!

Good stories LMAO, I have been lucky, never got to catch anyone, nor had my truck broken into (knock on wood). I live in the country and almost never go into town at night, still some good things about country life.

I am one of very VERY few that doesn't.
23 yrs of training helps. Kind of a not so sharp question to ask on a public forum though.
I've seen too many folks die from abuse of 'other' supplements and am currently lobbying for the IOC to assist with testing.
