Trophy Hunters?

Anyone here besides me trophy hunt?
Keep in mind that all the game I shoot gets donated to the food bank to help feed the needy, so nothing is wasted...
Here is a pic of a 200 class Muley I shot near Augusta Montana.

Re:Trophy Hunters?

I hunted for years. 390 point ELK. Several good sized mulies.
A few good whitetails. Like BBD, I have killed a truckload of hogs

Since the kiddos ( 4 of them ) I find less and less time

Re:Trophy Hunters?

No matter how you cook them, them horns is still mighty hard on the teeth ;D.

I wouldn't call myself a trophy hunter because where I have to hunt doesn't have the carrying capacity to produce big-racked deer. I used to be more picky about what I put in the freezer but, with less time to hunt and the population explosion of deer in eastern NC in the last 20 years, I now find that any mature deer is more than welcome in my freezer.

I have let young bucks walk so I could see what they sport the next year. Only problem is that it seems like they get collected by cars or the dog hunters before they get to maturity, as evidenced by the declining rack size in this area.

Wish I could afford several hundred acres to turn into my own hunting preserve - then I would try to grow some monsters.

Re:Trophy Hunters?

Everything I shoot at is a trophy in my book.

Took Kaley out last night for the 2nd time this year. She did sweet. I sucked. Leaves have barely started changing much less dropping out of the way though. I shot towards a few to keep her motivated. Couple grouse and a couple woodcock. The woodcock hold kinda tight, but the grouse flushed way out as the bowhunters are in the woods now. Have to shave some logs with the chainsaw tonight. Might go again Thursday night.

Ok, I've tried replying 3 times now and I'm having trouble attach the pic, so I'll just link to it. This is getting frustrating.

I've been trophy hunting for about 10 years. Unfortunately, that's not me in the picture. It was shot locally last Thursday 10/02. It green scores over 200" nontypical.

Ya know Sparkchaser, antelope is sunday! Oh, and if you see another one like him, give me a call , I'm in the book. Definitely don't mind the Augusta area. Was that on private or public? I saw a buck similar to him on Sun River game range but could'nt close the gap and 2 does busted me. He is nice! ;D-Steve

Re:Trophy Hunters?

Nice Muley! I hunt every year, best hobby to have in my opinion! I do go after the "big ones" but in my mind there is alot more to hunting then just the "horns". I feel blessed to get the chance to go out and enjoy the sport with family and friends or alone sometimes for the peace and tranquility. I harvest "legal" animals and no matter how big they are, they are all trophies in my mind. 8)

Re:Trophy Hunters?

Thanks for the remarks fellas ;D
I've shot alot of pretty good trophy critters, but I agree- you can't eat the horns. However- you can't hang the meat on the wall either
The great thing about it here- you can donate the meat to the food bank, which I think is awesome and you can sell the cape to a taxedermist(provided it's not mount material) for 75-100 bucks. So, you basically get to feed the needy, get gas money back and have a good wall hanger.

Don- a 390 class bull????? Got any pics
