Tracking Settings
 
Hello, I need your help and advice. I am the proud owner of a 2001 Dodge 3500 Dually, unfortunately I live in England and cannot get any information on my truck, there are only 5 x 3500 Dually's in the UK. My Q's is: What are the tracking settings on the front wheels as I need to align them, starting to get tyre ware on the outside edges. Dodge will not give this info. because I do not live in the USA.

First of all- welcome to the board :)

Hi this is AlpineRAM from Austria.

For a 99 the preferred toe-in would be 0.10deg (+-0.10 deg tolerance)
Front tires wearing more on the outside is a common problem. You'll need to rotate the tires every oil change.

I would bet, that along with Alpine, your truck gets a lot of open mouth stares. :o

Wow, only 5 others like you?
Is that an exaggeration for effect, or are there really only 5?

Oh, is it 4X4?

Welcome Curt,

After driving thousands of miles in your fair country on little tiny roads that lead to cities with names like "Little Mudpuddle", I can understand not having duallies. Even the big trucks over there run singles - - big ones, but singles.

It is good to know that Dodge is being represented over there. Jolly good job. Hang in there.

Thankyou all for your advice and help. As far as I am aware there are only 5 of my type of Ram, there are plenty of 1500 and the odd 2500 but not Dually's, they arent realy designed for our roads but it is great fun although nobody seems to want to play especially the guys with there little Japanese 4X4 toys, they wont even look at me (makes them feel a little insignificant). Parking at the stores is a little different, i usually get wrong for taking up 4 spaces.

Oh sorry didnt mention that my truck is 2x4. I will be starting to mod it soon, dont know whether or not to fit a lift kit or not.

I wouldn't lift a 2X4, IMHO it's pointless. You won't go offroad with it.

If you need caster, camber, etc for your vehicle I'd need exact specs. Build year, wheelbase, gross vehicle weight.
The preferred caster should be in the 3.45-3.65deg range with a tolerance of +- 1 deg
Preferred camber would be 0.50deg tolerance +-0.50deg
Preferred cross caster 0deg +-0.5deg
Preferred cross camber 0deg +-0.5deg
Thrust angle 0deg +-0.4deg
Preferred total toe-in 0.1 deg +- 0.1

Preferred caster varies slightly for the parameters above but you'll be within the tolerance with any value I gave you.

Thanks Alpine, much appreciated. Were do you get all of your parts from, is ther anybody local in Europe or is it easier to import straight from the USA? Lifting it was just a thought, performance parts and other bits are on the way soon.

I do source my parts from different suppliers. Standard maint. parts and performance parts will take some looking for good prices. I think I can help you with some hints from my own experience, but won't do so on a public forum. (Stuff I like, stuff I dislike, vendors who are less than agreeable to work with etc)
