Angry Toshiba rant

Back on June 1st I ORDERED my projector. It came to $1331.25. About a week later I paid for it. Worked great til a few weeks ago, screen started to get dim and over a week ago the bump explodes. New bulb is $364. Since it was only about 90 days I'm trying to get warintee to cover it, but my reciept says 6-1-06 on date box and also under description ordered 6-1-06. I tried explaning to them that I had to order it and wait for it to get there, but they are blind and can't see that. When I ordered it the guy said bulbs were going to be around $50 and I believed him. Til he got on phone and ordered one, then told me it was $364. Only 800 hrs on a 3000 hr bulb. Wishing I never bought it, Askin the guy I bought it from how much I can get out of it.

I'm not sure about their projectors but I HATE their computers. I had nothing but problems with all of the Toshiba laptops I used. I got smart and bought a thinkpad. Haven't had a single problem with it since I bought it, and it's mounted in the car 50% of the time.

As a side note, I have a Toshiba HDTV which I've had for about 3 years now. Not a single problem with it. I love the thing.

Ditto...I bought a Toshiba laptop a few weeks ago. I opened 4 different laptops (3 seperate trips to the store) and EVERY one had a bad pixle !!!!! Cost me well over $100 for fuel alone!. I also have a Toshiba TV - had a bad speaker right out of the box!.

*** I will NEVER buy another Toshiba product ***

But, Im feeling much better now...

My toshiba laptop is 5 years old and to date has, Been knocked off the bed 5 times, wet dog landed on key board after a bath(it stopped working after that one for a day). The detents have worn out that hold the screen in the upright position and because of that it now has a "hood prop" to hold it open. I LOVE my toshiba laptop, TV, and DVD player. They have all been trouble free for me. Its just like anything now days, you either get a good one or a bad one.

Yeah, I always heard that Toshiba makes a great laptop so thats why I bought one. I have my doubts now.

I guess "quality control" is a thing of the past.

This is disappointing to hear. I always thought Toshiba made some of the best electronics you could buy.

As far as Toshiba's Sattelite series laptops.. well they are cheap for a reason but their Tecra Series laptops are awesome. I have had two of the over the last few years (Tecra 9000 and a Tecra M2, Work provides them) and they have been flawless. Absolutley Flawless.

I have always had good luck with their TVs and rarely saw toshibas laptops come in for service at best buy(sorry Dr. Evil got a ridiculosly bad batch I hope), a lot of sony laptops though, mostly hard drive failures.

4-1/2 years ago bought a compaq for daughter 1. Crapped out in one year. Bought her a Toshiba Satellite based on advise of local Computer repair place. 3-1/2 years years ago bought another Toshiba satellite for daughter 2. Both still going strong. All keys still intact etc. Only problem ever was had to replace a fan on daughter 2's. I think that Toshiba's are great. Would not hesitate to buy another.

Yeah, we have an OLD Tecra at work - it only gets occasional use but its still running strong and is probably 8+ years old. I was first looking for a Tecra but could not find one anywhere.

I'm on my third Tecra at work...firt one was so good someone walked off with it, second one is still going, and we just bought the third because we are using them so often nowadays.

These are the laptops the techs take with them to the dusty farms and fields to work on the newer machines...have had the oldest one about 3 years, and it's still going strong in that environment

I'll stick with them!

Personally, I will only stick with commercial grade notebooks. Toshiba makes a very good commercial product. And yes, they do cost more but worth it in the long run.
