Toolbox Organization?

Need to organize all the tools rolling around in my toolbox. At work we use a product that has natural oils in it. You place the blocks of the material in the drawer and put the drawer in the heat treat oven to melt it. While it is still pliable you press the tools down into the material and it leaves a permanent impression so that the tools can be stored in an organized matter. The problem with this is that while melting it puts off some bad odors that are ok in a large open shop but not in my house. I thought about using foam padding and cutting a silhouette of each tool, but that could get pricey and time consuming. Just looking for others inputs on how to do this on a low budget. Tired of not being able to find my sockets without picking up ten at a time and sorting. Thanks.

sockets i just use those socket holders bar with a bunch of clips that the sockets snap onto in order makes finding the right size easy too if you can't guess the size well. for wrenches they make foam or plastic holders that hold the wrenches in order nicely. other than that just stuff it in there. one other thing i saw was a semi sticky/spongy mat like the kind you can put on your dash to keep you sunglasses from sliding around.

I use these for almost all of my sockets and the ones that dont fit on this (i.e. wobble/universal sockets) go on this.

I use both the holders for wrenches and sockets(on some of them atleast). What I have found to work best for the stuff like pliers, screwdrivers, etc is tha spongy stuff you throw in your cabinets. Just gotta put away what you use when done.

Second here, on the "Hansen 1/2 in. Socket Holder Set"

watch the Sears Craftsman Club, and they will be on sale around $10 each.

i spent about $90 on those one night, and you know what?
i LOVE them, i would NOT live without them again.

they are that good.

Northern Tool has them, and ebay and everywhere else

google SOCKET and HANSEN.

you gotta be careful, they are different colors different places.

think my black are SAE, gray is Metric.

i have my 6 pt and 12 pt sockets sorted, and the impacts, and deep wells.

i gave about a dozen clip rails away. they are a waste.

Screwdrivers I am at a loss, I just store them somewhat separated by philips or flat head. Most of the time I use this for all screw/torx/quarter drive operations. I am a lazy tech.

I use this style for wrench storage.http://www.matcotools.com/Catalog/to...ype=T&cat=2243
