Yup, once as a child and again as an adult !!! If even a tiny tag of tonsil tissue was left behind, it will try to regenerate and cause problems. lucky me...
Yes, it hurts and you'll find you are going to be on an involuntary diet for a while. NOTHING hotter or colder than 98.6degF will be tolerated and EVERYTHING feels like dry toast going down for quite a while.
It'll get better to where you don't dread swallowing your own saliva after about a week or so .
Save the ice cream for later,... MUCH later....

I think the reason those of us that had them out as a child never minded the pain as we could have all the ice cream we wanted. I sure wouldn't want to have them taken out now. That and another operation that I won't go into.
