HDMI stands for "High-Definition Multimedia Interface" and provides an interface between any compatible digital audio/video source. Audio and Video in one wire.

And no, it doesn't play Blu-Ray or HD-DVD movies, they left out the HD-DVD drive which IMO was a bad choice.

The only other difference is the black shell and 120GB HDD...

I have an HD-DVD add-on for my 360...

And Britt - you gotta try to keep her ON so it heats up real good.

There is no safety shutoff.

I guess it depends. It is nice to have the HDMI hook up and the extra HD space is good I guess. I think if you just want to play a few games then the XBOX premium package is what you would want. It comes with a hard drive and HD cables. The core system doesn't come with a HD so you can't save any games so it is basically useless unless you buy a HD or a memory card. Really all your gaining with the elite system is HDMI and a bigger HD. And the cool black color which sold me. I'm such a loser.

Well you're not going to like this, but a system and a couple of games will be a little ove $500. If you're like me and play online then that is another $50 a year. It's all in what you like I guess.

Well now that you brought that up. I would suggest a plasma instead of an LCD. I have a 22" LCD, a 47" LCD, a 55" LCD, and a 50" plasma display and the plasma wins hands down. Don't get me wrong, the LCD's are great displays but for my main viewing I watch the Plasma.

Here are a few pictures of the Plasma

i thought with a plasma the picture could "burn" into the screen over time when playin games? and its not repairable if it breaks. is there any truth to that and is it worth taking the chance? i know plasmas are cheaper so thats a plus

Plasmas do "burn in"

But most of the modern games don't have static images on them long enough to cause burn-in.

SED and Laser T.V.'s come out pretty soon - wait for them, then Plasmas and LCD will be commonplace.

The older model plasmas used to burn in. As long as you buy a newer model you shouldn't have any problem with burn in. The life expectancy of a plasma is 16000 hours so I don't think that should be a problem either. Thing about a plasma display is the "blacks". A LCD display could never display "blacks" like a plasma.
