Testing temp. sensor

My water temp. gauge on my 730 Case isn't working. The wire is still connected to the sensor. Just noticed it wasn't working while haying last year and want to get it corrected.

Can I check the function of the sensor with an ohm meter?

if you new the ohm/resistance value of the sensor you can test with a ohm meter but without i can bet it shouldnt be open-o/l or 0.0ohms.

Thanks. The tractor is 15 miles from an auto parts store. I'm going to call a local auto supply and see if they may have something listed. Then I can just replace it and see if it's something else, or maybe the gage will start working again.

It's probably the original sending unit and it's a 1965 tractor!!
