stupid no driving people trying to get you killed

well i was headed in to work this morning around 6 or so and started up a hill and as i was passing 3 cars the last one (an F150 i believe) crosses the center line and busts my mirror into 1.3 million tiny little pieces. now i am fortunate that he didn't take a fender off or hit me head on, but what really got my boxers all in a wad is he never even checked up. if anything he sped up. you would think people would have the common courtesy to turn around and come back. really started my morning off wrong.

Sorry, when I read your post I read it wrong. I thought you were passing cars going up hill. I erased my original post.

He probably had warrants and/or no insurance. Seems like driving habits have gone to the dogs in my local area too.

When I first read your post, I was thinking "well if he was PASSING three cars, he ought to have had something hit"; then, I realized what you actually meant was that you MET three cars.

The wife's family are constantly passing someone and I don't know if they are coming or going.

If they meet someone, they will say they passed them; then, when they actually do pass someone, I sort of half expect them to say they met them.

I am seriously considering installation of a camera system connected to a "Loop" recorder in my truck.
This will provide evidence in case I get creamed by some non-driving pin head, or provide evidence of aggressive or impaired driving that might lead to a collision (notice I don't call them "accidents") involving other vehicles around me.

from dictionary.com:
1. an undesirable or unfortunate happening that occurs unintentionally and usually results in harm, injury, damage, or loss; casualty; mishap: automobile accidents.
2. Law. such a happening resulting in injury that is in no way the fault of the injured person for which compensation or indemnity is legally sought.
Someone who is speeding, engaged in Aggressive Driving, driving impaired or driving while distracted doesn't cause an "accident".
They chose to engage in the activity that led to a collision.

I agree with this totally. I seem to recall an article in the newspaper a couple of years back saying the federal government was no longer calling them accidents either.

Over 90% of the time the driver that caused the wreck was doing something other than driving. Most of the other 10% are driving aggressively or impaired. If they had been driving they would not have crossed the line or whatever they did.

The people in this area like to call U.S. Highway 2 the "Highway of Death" due to all the wrecks and fatalities that occur on it. While it is not the best choice for a primary route due to the volume of traffic, the biggest problem IMO is the aggressive nature and speed of the drivers. Highway 2 is a twisty two lane highway for the most part but people try to drive it like they do on I-90 at 75-85 mph.

Up here in Ontario Canada they have a new law that states anyone caught going over 50 kilometers per hr. [thats 30 mph] over the speed limit has his lisence suspended for seven days. his vehicle seized for seven days and a $2000 fine. It surprised the cops as the first month they had caught over 1000 people. Male and female, old and young. Also same thing for street racing too. Some will say this is too severe but I think it is a good thing. Far too many people being killed with cars these days. And our local radio station calls them collisions now not accidents.....
