Stolen Phone

We had the service suspended within 30 min.s of the theft.
Can AT&T track down the phone if someone put's their own SIM in it?
My daughter and her boyfriend were in a Taco Villa in Lubbock,TX last night and she left her purse at the table when they left. about 10 min.s away they turned around and went back but it was gone.
Today she went back up and the manager allowed her to review the in store video.
It turns out there was an Hispanic family (not trying to be racial just stating the facts of the case) sitting at a table right next to them. On the video you can clearly see the dad get up and grab the bag within seconds after they left. He then hands it to his wife and she puts it under her sweater and the whole family gets up and leaves the restaurant. It's bad enough that they are low enough to steal but to set the example for their kids that this is proper behavior is completely outrageous!!!! This angered my daughter more than the fact that it was stolen!!!
So if anyone here lives in Lubbock and knows anyone that suddenly gets a 1 yr old black MotoQ email me. captian_ron99@yahoo.com and/or contact the Lubbock PD.
Unfortunately there was no parking lot video at that location.

As Sheriff Buford T Justice said, "What is the world coming to?"

This concerns me too...my son is 2.5 and my daughter is due early August. What kind of world will they grow up in and enjoy as adults?

Here's the video

ok the video is posted on youtube. At first my daughter thought the Dad got up and grabbed the purse but this was not the case. What you can see is one of the kids pointing at the bag another starting to head that way and then the mom getting up and grabbing the bag.
Pretty darn disgusting either way.
If you know anyone who lives in Lubbock have them watch it!!!!

Yea.....we decided to do this since the Lubbock PD has yet to even assign an investigator to the case. Let alone go and get a copy of the video from Taco Villa!!!

Yes, the phone can be ping(ed) as long as it has battery life.

May not happen, both LEO and the carrier may choose not to based on the nature of the crime.

Why ping a phone for abandoned property?

Not exactly abandoned but I get your point.
Had they left it alone the owner would have recovered it in less than 20 min.s
Can they ping it if it has someone elses SIM card in it?
We've already killed the SIM that my daughter had in it and activated a new one for her number in an older phone.

I can't answer your question in the technical sense. From the field I will tell you if the right guys are pushing the buttons anything that is capable of sending or receiving a signal can be found.

Not trying to minimize what happened to your family, I would be as hot as you are.

In a property crime try and link the suspect to a vehicle. Looks like they had good video, do they have outside cameras?

The ESN of the phone can't be changed, so it can be flagged so that no one can activate the phone again if you tell an ATT rep to flag it.
Then, if someone does do a sim swap, the phone will only dial 611 customer service as an unrecognized phone.
Hopefully they will be dumb enough to give their info to the 611 support folks when it dials in.

I saw a family while in Boise; the parents were pulling aluminum cans out of the dumpsters behind a truck stop and had the kids filling them up with sand so they would weigh more. I have always had a problem keeping my mouth shut, and told them what I thought of their behavior, but can't say what I said on here...Hope you catch them.

I'm guessing you weren't lucky enough that they paid for their meal with a credit card. Then you could track down the card owner to tie it back to an individual.

No, I never watch those crime shows on TV where this always breaks the case. LOL

Seen the same thing with the crushed cans...can't add as much weight, but a bunch of small rocks or some sand go a long way.
