So here's a question...What are you going to do about it? Vote for someone different next time? How many of you really know who your voting for? You see a few adds on tv and think you do. Guess what, you don't. It's those same folks that say one thing and do another. We've actually had a local politician want to rent our church to film a campaign commercial saying he was a Christian and a man of God. We obviously said no, but what was to stop him from finding another that said yes, and how many people would have voted him into office based on this lie?

It's going to take something big to stop this train wreck. You all just saw a President sign some big stuff, but he has still not produced a birth certificate showing he can legally sign that document. It all may be void, but we will never know, because of the snake belly crawling people he has around him protecting his identity. How much talk did we see about Bush's grades? Why are Obama's grades sealed? Answer, because he signed an executive order to seal his past and his identity.

Thx for listening

Well, I think we all need stricter laws. Having seen the pain these people go through is difficult to explain. Politicians? I don´t trust them, they won´t do anything. To be honest, I´ve got no idea what to do about it.

NL, I am confused, you mean the laws in Germany or here?

I am with HMX-1 on that one, we need to toughen up prison so it becomes a deterrent.

I know just how to do it as well. Russia, Mexico, etc. all have prisons, we could house prisoners there far, FAR cheaper than we can here. We could also lessen the length of the sentence and get the desired effect.

Too bad all the bleeding hearts would stop it.

Prison is a school for the criminals. Go in with an 8th grade education and come out with a PHD in Drug, gangs, murder, etc. I say solitary confinement for all and No more ranges of sentences. Make is simple (for the morons doing it). Ie. Murder = life (your life - in till death) Rape = x years. Stealing = y years... etc.

I'm sick of repeat offenders. Another problem is that these thugs think it's cool to go to prison because they know they will come out and be able to say "I was in Prison" to all their thug friends. It's not a deterrent, its a "time out with an education."

It really gets me when I hear these groups saying that the prisons are over crowded and the environment they live in is inhumane. what the?! Internet access, 3 meals a day plus treats, a gym etc etc? Training for jobs for free? Clean bedding, clothing and showers etc. Give me a break. The only folks being treated inhumanely are the victims and their families. The punishment should fit the crime. You commit a crime and are guilty...you no longer have any rights.

My sister was so ashamed of a situation she encountered when she was 16 that she would not tell me. I learned that she had been physically abused by her boyfriend. It was dealt with. Later I was told he was charged with rape and attempted murder. Found another victim. He never made it to court. He picked the wrong family of people to mess with and thats the way it should be. I was surprised to learn that he was dead. Everyone knew what really happened but nothing was ever done about it.
I have thought about this a few times. I thought maybe I did not do enough when I tuned him. The scum still continued til he met the family of the next girl.

Over here, but I think for a crime like rape/abuse there should be stricter laws everywhere. I get sick of hearing rapists going to jail for 2-5 years. The victims are on their own for the rest of their lifes. That really makes me mad sometimes

Scotty, I totally agree with you

That is one area where the Middle Easterners and I can meet in the middle. They absolutely do not tolerate criminal behavior directed at another. Except of course their treatement of females is way off.

A Canadian felon is getting out after killing thirteen children in the early 80's. Causing quite a stir.

Generally, I am quite amazed there is not more retallitory events re: these types of criminals.

Eye for an eye justice and minimalist prison luxuries would certainly send a clear message to the streets. The lawmakers just don't have what it takes to do it.

I'm not for stricter laws, but better laws. Tune the ones that still let the technical errors during the trail phase let the guy go free. Let a judge rule on what is double jeopardy and what isn't (Like something so heinous its worth double the sentence.) Limit time served pre-trial, and double time served if it is a multiple charge offense (Robbery versus violent robbery.)

Making the jail time double just won't deter some people who are in dire circumstances and are offered a way out of their problems. (Drug runner or something like that.)

I also have issues with mandatory sentence lengths. A guy caught with 15 pounds of pot, versus the guy who was busted with a tiny roach in a old jacket pocket he wore last winter and just put it on again in the fall. They both get the possession charge with its mandatory few years. The other guy also gets possession for trafficking, but plea-bargins down to possession because they can't prove intent or something stupid like that. One is certainly a criminal. The mandatory sentence doesn't care. A family loses their dad for 3 to 5 to whatever years. There is no -justice-.

There are huge gaps in the Canadian criminal system, and the public knows and rants against it. Getting anything done in a minority government is hard. Bicker ***** moan. Its all we see. While criminals get away with murder, literally (look up any new story of a drunk driver wiping out a family, waits so long for pre-trial it gets time served, and by the time he is found guilty, it is for a drunken charge, and nothing for the vehicular manslaughter.)

Also, decriminalize weed for small amounts for personal use and treat it like open liquor. Confiscate or dump. Grind it into the dirt. Anything. Its just way too costly to waste a cell on him, or the publicly provided lawyer, or the trial time, or pretty much anything for that little thing. I may get heat for this view, but I believe in compassion and harm-reductions when allowable. A non-violent victimless peaceful action really needs years in jail?

I believe that Canadian law is working in some places too, though. Its not a toothless system, but is just a bit broken. Or.. a lot broken depending on the crime.

Erf. Rant over. Next?

Why do rapists only get 2-5 years over here? If it would be me I would shoot them straight to hell. Sure there are some people in prison that did not do anything, with todays technologies it "should" be easy to find out (to be honest, it isn´t easy).

I just don´t understand why the victims get a "lifetime prison without a prison" and their torturer is free after an amount "X" of time.

I know this might be disturbing to some of you. I just need opinions. I had two girlfriends that were raped and I know several woman that have been abused.

Don´t you think we all need stricter laws?

as for me, I´m all pro stricter laws. But as long you get more time in prison for robbing a bank.....well, it´s difficult, at least over here.

Thanks for listening

Kris

PS: please pay attention towards your son´s and daughter´s behavior!
Because I feel too many legislators worry about being caught and having to serve the time.

Hey Redleg,

you might have a point there. I like politicians that work for the people....that´s why I don´t like politicians. Who likes them anyway.

That being said, I still believe there should be stricter punishments against a lot of crimes. Rapists in the middle east? Head off. Rapists here? 2-5 years. I´m against killing people though.

Break rock, bread /water and cabbage soup, sleep in tents, if you need heat for the winter you can mine the coal for your heat.
If you refuse to break rocks then you are not fed more then one meal a day enough to keep you alive but thats it. You sentence resets if you refuse to work. it's your choice not ours.

No education while serving time other then breaking rocks. If you were a good inmate who did as they were told, and have no other legal means to get further education then we will help you get that education. We will also help pay for a room for you to stay in and feed you a modest meal (parole). If you fail to apply yourself 100% while in school you go back to jail.

Its your choice not your right.

What's tough about that? That sounds like a regular day for most of us? How about putting shock collars on them, and making them a slave to crime victims?
