"Sounds like FREEDOM!"

My Dad being Retired Airforce once told me years ago that jet noise, "Sounds like FREEDOM!"

The Blue Angels are in my neighborhood doing low altitude passes today as they are doing an airshow at Mather AFB this weekend.(Just across the highway from me.)

Yes, even though I know they are Navy pilots, I'm still very impressed and still very proud to be an American who supports all branches of the military.

Yes, Dad, I guess jet noise does sound like freedom!

I'm insanely jealous.

I work in the flight path for the aircraft that overfly Arlington Cemetary performing Missing Man formations for the funerals of Military Members.
After 18 years, I STILL look up and watch them until the 4th plane is out of sight.

I used to live near willow grove naval air station in PA, in the winter with the leaves off the trees I could see the tower light as it revolved, always saw a lot of planes, big and small, lots of a10 thunderbolts...... favorite place to eat was right across the highway Lee's hoagie house, great food, about 100 different brewed beverages, and an absolutely awesome view of the runway. Freedom with an afterburner

I spend 3-4 weeks every year attending airshows, hopefully the Blue Angles perform also. Oshkosh, Sun-n-Fun, EAA regionals, locals, if there are more than two airplanes gathering, I'm there dude. This year they are coming to my home town! And I have a seat 100 yards from the control tower, their crossing point of reference on the airfield. If that don't get your blood going nothing will.

I live pretty much right under the flight path near Hill Air Force Base. I see F-16's constantly. Other sightings include the stealth fighter and bomber, A-10's, and the new awesome looking F-22.

The British have few planes here right now, and it looks like they may be doing training exercises.

I used to see Apache's and Huey's circling the valley heading out on maneuvers, but don't see a lot lately.

The base out by airport #2 seems emptier as well,
I think they are all out playing in the desert overseas.

Get a few F-16 formations every now and then, but this is also scarcer than it use to be,
again, I think most of them are in the desert.

Starting tomorrow, I picked up another facility to maintain Comm for.

You know, the availability of pics like this on the 'Net are kinda scary to me.
Why should those who intend us harm have to spend their time and energy on surveillance?
Google has done all the work for them, right down to the GPS coordinates........

I remember the t-shirts from years ago bearing the words: "Beware of three wise men bearing gifts" and under it were 3 loaded out F-4 Phantoms.

The sound of freedom - yep.

Enjoy them, we are going to have the thunderbirds in town the weekend after next. They are returning with one of our jets (188th) and this will be their first show with a female pilot.

Fronty,
You with the 188th Fighter Wing? When are you get the A10's?
I'm just up the road at Camp Robinson, CSMS, Missile Shop.

Hope you enjoy the show Rick. Seems ever since I left California you all get to do the fun stuff. DTR meets, snow, airplane shows.

I remember when I was younger mabe 13-14 years old. I seen the Stealth Bomber fly over our car when we were headed somewhere. I'll never forget that, one of the coolest things i've whitnessed. I also remember seeing the Blue Angels in Ft.Benning GA on base. They also had some special elite sky diving team, that was pretty interesting to.

I don't live near a flight path, but this summer I was (and still am) working for a trenching company. On one job we were directly in the flight path for the proving grounds here in Indiana. Every day several A-10's would fly over. The coolest part about it was is that since we were out in the middle of the field they would make practice runs on the Equipment. It was awsome.
