Smokey & Bandit Road Show

If any of you get the chance to see the Smokey and Bandit rolling road show go see it. I took the boys and wife and just got back and it was great. Coors puts it on and is traveling the country. They have a 45' movie screen...kind of like the old drive in movies, you can tune your radio to listen in. There must have been 1000 people there. I'm trying to get some culture in my kids.[laugh]

"Jr, remind me when we get home to smack your mamma!"

"First thing I'm gonna do when we get home is punch you momma right in the mouth"

As much as I like the movie I have always wondered why the writers didn't check their roadmaps better for their route from Atlanta to Texarkana. They went up towards North Arkansas rather than straight across South Arkansas on Highway 82 west which goes straight to Texarkana. They could have done the rolling roadblock scene in my town.

If they took the short route, the movie would have only been 20 minutes long.

" Junior, put the evidence in the car, but daddy, ....put the evidence in the car!"

" Junior, put the evidence in the back seat."

The movie wouldn't have been any shorter. But if you're running against time (which they were) why drive over 300 miles further than you have to. I just meant it as an overlooked movie mistake. Also there is no Deason county in Arkansas, at least if there is I don't know where it is and I have lived here all my life.

My wife and I talked about the same things. I recognized some of the stretches of road on 71 in north AR and it just doesn't make any sense to run that route. I guess that's the way they do it in Hollywood. Nonetheless, it's always been on of my favorite movies and my kids got to experience a drive-in movie.
