Simple maintenance advise.

been thinking about a thread for this, then DC posted this in the Breakroom:

i do that with the hinges, hood latch, stick the red nozzle inside door lock & tonneau locks. a high PSI car wash can drive water & dirt in there, and since we all use Remotes, you would never know it was rusted (salted?) up till to late.

--check the air in your tire MORE OFTEN than you think.

--check the oil in your lawnmower EVERYTIME you use it - it's an investment
check air in tires too - supposed to be a big deal for traction.

here's something else i found out:
--everything outside DRIES out - get a old spray nozzle, and put it on a BabyOil Bottle, and spray all your garden hoses, hoses reels, plastic connectors.

ArmorAll is silicone based, and BabyOil is petroleum based. All your outside stuff is made with petroleum & plastic, so BabyOil will keep your $75 hose reel from dry rotting. ArmorAll will run off.

my Air hose is 10yrs old (got for free) and dryrotting - been babyoil'ing when i do the hose reels. have a air reel with 2 hoses, have 2 garden hose reels, with 2 hoses on each on them. may not seem like much, but that's a serious investment.

i had some other tips roaming around in my head, but i slept on my side, and they fell out...

Since my trailers make me money and downtime is not acceptable about every 4 or 5 months I hit the plugs and the plug on the truck with some dielectric grease to keep water and garbage out. I also keep my light plugs up and out of the sun so they don't start to dry rot. Rotation rotation is the key to long tire life. My trucks and all my trailers luckily have same size tires as my trucks so I rotate them on the truck tell there not so good but not bad and then I rotate them in to the trailers either as spares or extras. As I stated earlier if any of you have ever had to deal with a dry sticky ratchet strap on the side of road case it wont bite good or trying to get loaded I always keep them soaked up good with some silicone spray. Along the lines of straps keep them under the seat or in a dry box they will last allot longer if they were out in the weather at all times. Half of mine are at least 4 or 5 years old and they albeit dirty are like brand new. OK I am getting off my box 04 I think I might have found some of the crumbs you lost I think I lost some too from the last format

--"reset" all your electronics every once in a while, say once a year, to keep them operating 100%. i was getting ready to buy a new Digi-Cam because when I took videos, you could not see anything (extremely low-res) found a reset button, and BINGO, it does great videos now. changed a setting on it somehow.

yep, i keep my stuff outta the sun if i can. learned that in south GA, anything outside over a month is sunbleached and soon dried out.

I have a hand held GPS that somehow lost all of the topo info I had programmed in, and was close to buying a new unit but $400plus slowed my decision process. Freind had new software so he reloaded all data onto the chip and it works great now. Electronics,

wear some Mechanics IMPACT gloves when weedeating - soaks up 75% of the bad vibes, hands don't go to sleep as soon.

put a old luggage strap and a dog snap on your weedeater, hang weight on shoulder to alternate hand, less tireful.

I turtle wax and orbital buff my fiberglass shower surround. Who needs scrubbing bubbles?

I was told today that liquid spray-on car wax will keep aluminum siding from chalking. Gonna try a test area soon just to see.

need to spray some black paint on it,

pour some dirt over it for grip,
then hit it with paint again,

but mama can get in the tail gate now...
without buying a $89 step.

she makes me keep this hitch in there, she thinks it gives "tail gaters" something to consider.

this is for the dog water. if you water dogs from a hose, it will be hot & taste like water hose. leave the yellow cap off, and use that for dogs.

put yellow cap on for water hose.
who knows where the yellow cap came from?

for the ball hitch on the mower, if your tongue weight will be enough to lift the front of the mower, then leave the wheel on the tongue jack down, to support the weight of the trailer/boat, and use the mower just to move it around.

i park the truck in the driveway, and fetch trailers with the mower, to keep the truck from killing the grass.

Before winter really sets in we have been having temps no higher that 60s and getting down to low 30s I have to do something about my battery's the one of the driver side is starting to show some corrosion and it seems to be charging fine but I don't want to find out in the morning before work when its 0 out side that it killed over. I have started for the last three tanks running my power service again gotta wright a note to call Napa and get my normal cases for the winter so that will be off the list and I gotta drain the fire sprayer and take it out of my truck and i gotta fold the back seat up and store all my tools and straps n ropes in there so sorry but I cant haul back seater's in the winter . Um lets see truck truck truck ohhh got the new wiper blades on for winter don't know if I will run a winter front or not this year did not do it last year and was fine. Thats about it for now but as usually money is tighter that a frogs you know what right now so my budget is low key for now hence why I still ain't done a clutch
