Short bed converted to long bed

Just a question to the group, has any one looked into the idea of converting a short bed 2500 4x4 into a long bed.

You mean get the longer frame that would be required and everything? [eyecrazy] [eyecrazy] [eyecrazy]

Could be done I guess, you would just need a frame, long bed, lengthen the wireing harness, longer driveshaft. Probably cheaper and way easier to trade the whole truck in for a long bed truck.

I've got a bed stretcher I'll sell ya if you're interested... :)

Also got a board stretcher for those times when you cut your wood too short. I'll throw them both in for a fair price as a package... ;)

Hoss,

Don't you think he might need about 50 yards of flight line in order to tie them together. May even need an 8-foot yardarm, too. How about throwing in a couple gallons of prop wash in order to keep that equipment clean?

DW

Hoss,
We don't need to hear about the short wood. [yuk] [yuk]

Don't forget the skyhook from which you suspend the bed-stretcher. ;D ;D

Don't forget the bucket of steam.....prop wash and flight line don't work very well without a bucket of steam. Just put the bucket under the fetzer valve, turn on the catastophic converter and fill it up. Hurry back, you don't want that steam to cool too much....

I've got a tech manual that shows how to extend your bed ...

you're gonna need a stiff tree and about 50 yards of braided filopian tube. The way the picture looks, I guess you have to rig it up in a similar fashion to the old navy bulkhead stretchers that they used to use back in the day.

Remember to refill the blinker fluid when you get it done ... Re:Short bed converted to long bed

If you are that serious about making it a long bed, contact towing manufacturers. They make the frame section to add in for longer length. They make roll backs that way. From what I understand they ahve a slipover frame section complete with cross member. Then you would have to get a long bed. It really would be easier just trading.

Hopefully this summer I will be stretching mine over five feet, but I have done this work extensively before and have the equipment.
