going there sunday afternoon to tuesday around noon. 26 years unbroken. gotta keep it going.

 

Not this year.

I made 1995 through 2001, missed '02, made it to '03 (made it back from Iraq 2 weeks before), missed it last year (pre-deployment to Iraq work ups), and I will miss it again this year. But next year!!! Starting next year I will start making them all again.

I transfer in November, and that only puts me 10 hours away from Sturgis....ah, a short ride.

Summertime of 04, talk about crazy, fun and a good bunch of folk.. It was unforgetable.. I will go back...

I've Done Sturgis since 1965 I missed 2003 and 2004 this will also be my last year to go.....cost too much and the crowds are too much for me....everything has changed since I started going seems to be more of a family outing now with designer motorhomes with matching trailers and motorcycles that only go into town once then everyone sit around shooting the bull complaning its too hot to sit outside of their motorhome

I do so many events every year that by winter I'm burned out.....I prefer the smaller rallys you get to know who your camping next to and everyone rides

 

I have to agree with this. My first year was very nice. Then each follow on year, there are more 'families' at the rally. My favorite bumper sticker "If Sturgis was meant to be a family event, motorcycles would have 4 doors".

Oh yeah!! For every year I was there until '03, I use to say at the Glenco Campground. The second year I was there, there were something like 15 Motor carriages with the matching trailers. Those are the converted buses. I couldn't believe it. Everytime you drive by that area you are overcome with the noise of the gensets running 24 hours a day. Of course, if you look at the satellite photo of that campground today, there is room for about 50-100 motorhomes and motor carriages.

But we all know why not many families go to the Buffalo Chip.

I may start doing the same thing. I too am getting more tired of the the size of Sturgis and I need the comraderie of the early visits there. Even though it was only ten years ago, I miss that.
