Morning all.

Today is Saturday, December 26th.

On this day in 1620 - The Pilgrim Fathers landed at New Plymouth, MA, to found Plymouth Colony, with John Carver as Governor.

1776 - The British suffered a major defeat in the Battle of Trenton during the American Revolutionary War.

1865 - The coffee percolator was patented by James H. Mason.

1917 - During World War I, the U.S. government took over operation of the nation's railroads.

1941 - Winston Churchill became the first British prime minister to address a joint meeting of the U.S. Congress.

1943 - The German battlecruiser Scharnhorst was sunk in the North Sea, during the Battle of North Cape.

1947 - Heavy snow blanketed the Northeast United States, burying New York City under 25.8 inches of snow in 16 hours. The severe weather was blamed for about 80 deaths.

1982 - The Man of the Year in "TIME" magazine was a computer. It was the first time a non-human received the honors.

1991 - The Soviet Union's parliament formally voted the country out of existence.

Coffee is on.

Morning all!

Ate myself into the overstuffed category last night. Got off work and Mama had 18# of turkey waiting.....and taters, corn on the cob, sweet rolls, pie.........and gravy...... All very tasty.

I ate enough that I overslept and was nearly late this AM.

That Mason guy was a good man. Glad he knew what he was doing.....

How come the history Professor forgot to mention that today is the first day of Kwanza?

I would say that at least one quarter of the people flying private up here dont have a license. I am not kidding! So many private strips and planes flying without annuals its amazing.
Sigh, early 70's I was a military brat. I used to be able to rent a Ces150 or Citabria from the Aero club on Elmendorf AFB for $5.50 an hour. That included fuel. They got the planes free from busts the feds had made, had enlisted mechanics who were assigned to the club from special services and the fuel was "surplus". It was an extra $4.00 bucks an hour for an instructor when needed. Now its $4.00 bucks just for a gallon of AV gas

I had a really good Christmas actually. Better than I thought it would be, all things considered. Got a new camera and new guts to my computer. Amazing the difference in picture quality with a decent camera! Also got a free 15 day trial of TurboCAD. If I can figure it out I'll be able to buy the complete version. I've been messing with it and 15 days seems awful short!

Sorry about that. I didn't know you were a Kwanzite.

Snowing here again. Just after we got rid of all the snow yesterday with the rain. Oh well, it IS winter after-all.

Got a bit of snow up here as well. Supposedly gonna be 3-5 inches but the wind isn't gonna let it stick.

Sure - - sure - - we know what you meant.

Sorry about all that snow. I was out tweaking my irrigation system most of the afternoon - - some blocked up heads and two shooting fountains. For some reason you can't see that stuff at 3 in the morning when it is running.

OK, mama calling for din din - - why does she do that everytime I get on here. Hmmmm, women and their intuition. No winning.
