Which Rust Preventitive Product

Like I said in my last post (https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=162590) I was wondering about POR15 and got a lot of different responses. So I am doing a poll to see what the percentages are. Also it will be a good quick reference for newbies and other people.
Lets see if it will work.

Im not sure if they have fixed it, but back when i used por 15 on my frame of my '57 it was gloss black. But now its a dingy dull black. UV rays oxidize it.
I voted rust bullet because its supposedly UV safe

you have to use a top coat with the POR15 to seal it from the UV rays. I've used it a few times and seems to work really well. I think you just need to take the time during prep like any other painting. The better the prep and attention to detail, the better it will turn out.
I've been using POR15 for years. I've never had the problems that others claim. I have seen them, so I know it happens, but never experiened them myself. I'm very meticulous when it comes to prep. Maybe that's why it works for me.
POR15 needs to be top coated if exposed to the sun. They make something called "chassis coat black". It's a satin black finish that mimics the OEM look and it's UV resistant.

Beware how to prep POR-15
I found out the hard way that POR-15 is VERY particular on what chemical is used to clean the metal before applying POR-15. The mfr isn't very clear about what NOT to use so I used what I thought would be fine and leave a clean surface - paint thinner. I applied the POR-15 on the rear half of our Jeep CJ-7 (freshly sanded to sound metal after welding in repair patches) and waited 2-3 weeks before touching it with anything - there were a couple of small, low spots I intended to fill in with body filler after the POR-15 cured. After the wait I used 100 grit sandpaper and started LIGHTLY sanding the areas to fill in to provide a slightly roughed surface for the body filler to attach to. To my surprise and utter dismay the POR-15 started peeling off in small sheets! I couldn't believe my eyes. I emailed the company and got a reply back saying I should NOT have used paint thinner, only their proprietary chemical called Metal-Ready. I couldn't find any info anywhere on their website saying DO NOT use paint thinner.
While researching other rust treatments I ran across an article that Eastwood has on their website in which the magazine "Auto Restorer" compared POR-15 to Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator - they said the Rust Encapsulator was better. Here's the URL to the article - http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?i...CATEGORY&path=1%2C3%2C688%2C821&KickerID=173&KICKER. Also, another thing I found on Eastwood's site - they RECOMMEND using their metal prep chemical but say paint thinner is OK to use too.
I also found the Rust Bullet web site. They claim "Rust Bullet rust inhibitor coating and its patented new technology beats POR 15, Rustoleum and other market leaders in independent laboratory testing. Rust Bullet is guaranteed to stop rust and provide rust prevention for 10 years." Pretty strong claim, huh?
I haven't used Rust Encapsulator or Rust Bullet but after my experience with POR-15 I will be - just not sure which yet. Now I have to get busy removing ALL the POR-15 I applied to the Jeep so I can use something else that WILL stick to it.
