Rough road commuting vehicle choice
If it were for me, I would be looking for a solid axle land cruiser, but this is for my wife and part of the idea is that I can get the "family" car the heck out of my shop so I can spend more time on my W250 and my trail rig. I want to be able to call the dealership and tell them that my wife is on her way in with it if something tears up instead of having to designate a day to work and run to town for parts (usually twice, depending on what parts guys are working). Believe it or not she would be into a troph truck too, but I need another project like I need a hole in my head.
Sucks to hear about the fj cruiser. Perhaps it is an aquired taste, but those things look bad *** with a lift and good tires. I was considering one, but want nothing to do with cracks.
I live in a small town, so parts and service availability is a serious isse when you get into the exotics like a range rover or infinity (or Gaz volga, got a picture of that one for those of us less versed in soviet vehicles?).
I told my wife I would take her to work every day if she would let me have a helicopter, but she said no even after I offered to trade in all of my other projects. Go figure...

With regard to FJ's cracking: Wonder if it's related but one of the major magazines (Road & Track, Motor Trend, etc) tested one for a year and had the windshield crack. When they went to replace it, it was on nationwide back-order! Wonder if this is a symptom of this issue?
I don't think it is a result of the body cracks as much as it is the angle of the windshield. Since it's pretty much vertical, everything hits it full force instead of at an angle. The Jeeps have the same problem. That was one thing that I didn't give any thought to before I bought mine .... and wouldn't ya know it but I picked up my first windshield ding at 950 miles on the ticker
.
Read on one of the other sites I frequent that the Titans also are experiencing body bulges. Who knows.
