Best wishes for your Mom......and you. One thing I learned in the hospital was hurry up and wait. Try to have someone there for her as much as possible. Hospitals can be callous places.

Top, sorry to hear this. My thought and prayers for a speedy recovery are hers and yours. Just a thought,,,,did they schedule or do an MRI? If not, you may want to emphatically discuss this with the attending physician. Elderly and head trauma do not mix.

God bless.

Agree, and don't let them push a CAT scan.....they can be false negative.

Dearest Older Twin. Very sorry to learn of this. I know the anger and frustration that this kind of stuff can generate.
Breathe deep, protect mom and take it out on something...elsewhere.

Call if you need to.

Prayers here as well. She'll probably end up need some rehab.
If the doc assigns home health just remember that you have choices. The Doc may want a particular agency but if you don't like em demand some one else.
If you have questions about it just ask, I could write a book!!!

Hope she gets the attention she needs Larry, and gets well quickly.

If my old man was running that health care she'd get what she needed. Sorry they are not doing their job for her!

She saw the Orthopedic Surgeon today and she goes in for surgery Wednesday, he says her thumb is broken, her hand is broken, her wrist is broken and her fore arm as well. Also the thumb on the other hand but he thinks he can cast that one and have it heal OK. He says he will be putting things back together as best he can on the other arm,but that she will never have full use of that hand again.

She is black and blue from head to toe, her face looks like some one hit her several times with a closed fist. All in all we feel pretty fortunate that it didn't turn out a lot worse than it was.

Thanks Guys and Gals for all the prayers and kind thoughts

You and she hang in there. The older we get the slower we heal. So she will need a lot of your help in the future. Be glad that there was not more damage and that she is coherent and able to talk to you. It’s really tough to know that a loved one is laying there and hurting but can not tell you (or the doctor) what is wrong. I’ll be praying for you both.
