Removing hard water stains
Removing hard water stains
Between my work and my apartment my truck gets watered with the lawn
and washing it doesn't seem to remove all the hard water stains. Does anybody have good ways of removing the stains?

Try using distilled white vinegar. Wash your truck first. Then wipe the vinegar on with a sponge and rub it in. Let it sit for about 30-60 seconds, then rinse. Make sure to do only one section at a time. When you're done wash your truck again with a good car wash shampoo. Using distilled vinegar will remove your wax so you will also have to wax your truck again after you get done.
Using the vinegar treatment will remove the mineral spots, but if the water spots were allowed to sit and bake in the sun for more than a week or so, the minerals in the water will probably have etched your paint. If this occurs you need to use a mild polishing compound to restore the paint's surface to it's original condition.
The best way to keep on top of the water spots is to use a detailing spray each time your truck gets wet. Hope this helps!
