Try stropping your razor by pushing it away from the cutting action, across light weight leather or even denim jeans. Should add a lot of life to it. Of course, I haven't shaved in since Aug 17, 1971, so have to believe friends who tell me it works!

Lary, I know what you mean about your knives, mine are the same way and I should just shave with my Al Mar or Puma folder. Do you follow Razor Edge Systems guidelines by any chance?

I tried stropping the atra blades backwards on a strope as suggested and will also try the cold water trick.

For those of you interested in a straight razor, BE CAREFUL! I have my grandad's and its very sharp and an acquired skill and I haven't tried to master it after my first try. I cut my cheek.

Practice on someone else before you go after yourself!!

 

I am fed up with the mutiblade razors. I going with the tried and true single blade safety razors. 100 blades for 15 bucks. I'm gonna get one of these safety razor I have my grandfathers somewhere but I can't find the durn thing.

 

Safety razors are a good idea. I have an old gillette somewhere in my stuff.

I'll try an dig it out and give it a shot.

 

If razors are so expensive, why don't y'all just go have one of those treatments that yanks the hairs out by the roots? Then you won't have to worry about shaving at ALL. No more expense!

I can imagine that the leg hair DOES interfere with your nylons. The treatment might be expensive, but nylons must not be cheap either. It's all about balance!

 

One also must know and understand the difference between compromise and sacrifice.


Its sacrifice when more then a liter of blood is lost beautifying the LEGGS...just ask Lary, my eldest twin.

Compromise is when less then a liter leaks from said LEGGS.

 

I'm currently using schick hydro 5 blade. I find they do a better job that the fusion proglide. With that being said they still don't last very long, 3-4 shaves and thats about it.

I read about a guy who got his razor blades cryogenically treated and was using the same blade for over a year. Food for thought...

 

Awright, I'm going to let you all in on a little secret. And YES, this is legit. Build a little pyramid. You can use cardboard, plywood... anything. And it doesn't have to be big. Just big enough to fit your razor into. And store your razor in there. It'll never get dull.
