Quail Hunters
Hey guys, I live in Tulsa area, as do the guys that I hunt with, but most of the land that we hunt is out western Oklahoma, and populations in OK are WAY down, three years of dry weather are really taking a toll on the birds.
Just wondering how it has been for all of yall? (Especially the Kansas boys, $70 for a walk in permit:D) I haven't been myself yet, but I have several friends that have, one guy say one covey, another came home empty (he was dogless) We are gonna hit it hard next weekend, phesants will be in season, and they are more plentiful than quail it is looking like, they say a bunch of them last weekend. |
I flushed about 1/2 dozen last weekend deer hunting.

Well, down here in Texas, we pay 6 dollars for a quail permit. Then we get our guns and walk the fence line on our property. Usually no dogs, but we still seem to shoot alot. I prefer dove over quail hunting, but their both fun. Oh yeah, need I not talk about drought here in south Texas..........

There's nothing like fried quail. Planning on doing a little quail hunting next month.

Around here the dang turkeys have taken a toll on the quail population. Going to have to start thinning them out.

hogs hogs hogs everywhere hogs trying to decide whether to shoot the all; bring in dogs; or trap them??
just trying to keep them from eating from eating up the rolled corn and peanut hay before the cows get any of it |
I say trap them, feed the hell outta them, and then sell them

We hunt chuckar here----well, the first time you go after them you call it HUNTING----after that it's REVENGE!!

Our quail pop. seems to be low out here as well Nick. My brother went out yesterday and got a couple dove and ducks. Didn't say anything about seeing any quail.
