do you think that base really holds 50 gallons, will that be enough to keep it from moving around?

Ok. Out with the calculator. A gallon of water weighs 10 lbs. A cubic ft of water contains 6.24 gallons, so it weighs 62.4 lbs. So... the base looks like it's about 4 ft x 3 ft x 8" high. That's 8 cubic ft. Multipied by 62.4 lbs = 499 lbs. so I'd say they aren't BS'ing. The thing weighs 135 lbs. So you're lookng at 635 lbs total weight. It looks like a nice unit with the speed bag mount as well.
Me, I just hung my heavy bag from a floor joist and rattled the house. Then I got lazy. I haven't hung it up since we moved. I do kick it once in a while when I trip over it.

Also, a cubic foot is 7.48 gallons, not 6.24.

If it holds 50 gallons like he said, then it's 416.5 pounds plus the weight of the machine itself.
Back to nchapa's original question: guessing at the dimensions I'd say yes it does hold 50 gal.
