First one?
I got my first one in 1967, I was cited for "speeding, overtaking and passing patrol car"
I waved when I went by, but apparently that State Trooper just didn't think it was as funny as I did
I think it cost me about $12.00 if I remember correctly.

my first and only(so far) was speeding... 48 in a 30... generous cop.... was doing 65 before I crested the hill. Ticket was $63 and most of it was for court costs.... I wrote the check within hours after being cited.
of course, he thought I was ditchin' school but to his surprise, I was a college student back on Christmas vacation.

That isn't even speeding!
And your truck isn't even straight-piped or lifted!?!
Remind me to never go where you live...

12 bucks sure is a long way from whay they get now. Got one up in Seattle a few months back and it was $135. Ouch
LOL TOP that reminds me of something I did years ago. My friend had a 65 corvair and we put a 327 in the backseat with a mid engine kit and mated it to a muncie m-22. We took it out for a test run and got on the highway and punched the pedal and got it up to 3rd gear at about 95 mph and didn't have enough time to get it into 4th because we were getting off at the next exit which was coming up quickly. We didn't notice the highway patrol cruiser that was trying to catch up to us until we slowed quickly and got off at the next exit while he was speeding up to catch us. He didn't have room to make the exit so by the time we saw him all we heard was him saying WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA on his P.A. as he passed us.
my brother got nailed for 65 in a 50 last week. said he was doin' around 73 when the rader went off. Luckey he got it down to 65. Cop was an Edit about it. 180 bucks and will lose his licens cuz he hasn't pasted the 2 years after he got his licens.
round here ya gotta blend in, if traffic is doin 80 in a 55 then hop on into the flow and roll the dice, if ya get nailed its expensive but when RT 80 is movin take advantage of it, A lot of the local pd's are a LOT tougher, 40 in a 35 will get ya popped in my town and a few other choice ones real close to me. Best one I had gotten away with was a trip with friends in my old 76 coupe deville, 501 w/ the 850 quadrajet toolin about 100 with cruise control on........ passed a statey w a real good hidy hole and said son of a ........ next hill was an exit ramp that I knew well, as trooper is trying to catch up, I went down ramp- checked traffic left right and went straight across and up the ramp back onto highway........ lucky for me trooper went down ramp and made a left!
I took it easy the rest of the trip.

73 in a 50 is pretty fast. 65 is still fast. Now, I'm certainly not claiming I don't do that, but as the saying goes, "you pays your money, you takes your chances". Your brother got busted and the cop was most likely just doing his job.
Based on what you've told us, how was the cop being anything other than professional?
In Virginia, anything higher than 20 MPH over the posted limit is automatically "Reckless Driving".
A quick way to accumulate 6 points against your license that will stay on your record for 11 years.
If he's going to lose his permit over this, it sounds like it might not be his first traffic ticket.
He should be sending the cop a Thank You bouquet.
