Ugh, last night boy calls with the Dad you are gonna be mad line. He was driving my beater 99 Chebby ext. cab and it started squealing at a light.

Got there, sure enough, dead bang locked up. Did a little checking best we could on the road, it for sure is locked, and at least the Alt., PS pump, and AC Compressor aren't locked.

Drug him backwards 2 miles to the house, and now deciding on if I want to throw another engine in her........

Weird though, not hot, full of antifreeze, plenty of oil, never a hint of anything wrong with it, just boom.

Oh well, time to teach the boy the fine art of the engine swap.

 

Ohboyohboyohboy!!!!! Engine swap on a 99 Chevy. So, even with the learning curve, watcha gonna do after lunch???

Just finishing up some head gasket work on a vortec here. I grew up working on gm product, and had forgotten how fisher-price they really are. Even the newer ones aren't that bad.

Something occurred to me when I read your post about no reason. I had one probably 25 years ago now, locked up the same basic way. Bottom was locked solid, accessories were all good. Turned out the starter had thrown a fit, and locked into the ring gear. Strangest one to date.

Another thought is the timing chain broke and piled up in the bottom on yours.

Onto lighter topics, weather is good, bad, moderate, indifferent. Normal. Working on topping some "trees" in the yard. Poplar trees are just overgrown weeds anyway. Carry a lot of weight up high though, makes for some interesting procedures. Lots of ropes, winch lines, straps, etc.

Finally got some inet connection. Running all over the place having fun - - two water falls yesterday, nice hike. At the community center today to exercise and get on here. Weather is gorgeous - - high of 74, bright sun and blue skies. Think I might have to move up here every summer.

Welcome to my nightmare. One of the little tore up my air filter again and made another nest in the box of the 01. Unfortunately, being laid up there is nothing I can do to counter their assault. They are also making nests in my 92, but haven't done anything destructive yet. You'd think with all the trees we have around here they'd have better paces to set up house keeping.

 

Can't you hire a local teenager to come by and do some "target practice". you know, set up some beer cans on a tree stump, and if the stray squirrel passes by.... oh well ?

 

Not one around here I trust with a gun. Besides, any gun shots around here will bring the cops pronto. Rough neighborhood for dealers and labs.

 

Just got a statement this morning from workman's comp. Looks like they only paid a little over a $1,000 on a doctor bill that was a little under $9,000. It's the weekend so I can't call anyone to find out why until Monday. Also wondering why I haven't received a paycheck either.
