Someone gave us a Barbie Jeep for my daughter but they said it needs a new battery. It came with the charger and of course I tried to charge it up but it didn't work. My question is should the charger get a little warm after being plugged in all night? This one didn't get warm or hum or vibrate or anything. I'm just wondering, before I spend $50.00 on a battery, if the charger may be bad...
I think the one we had got a little warm, I had one of those jeeps someone give me one time that the battery was also dead, and so I figured I would wire up a lawn mower battery
ran like a scalded dog for a couple days then the wiring went up in smoke
had to pull my son out , so much smoke I thought it was a ctd

I sell a motorized handtruck that uses a battery similar to a motorcycle one. I thought about wiring it up but I don't want that to happen to my girl. I'm gonna try to find someone with a good charger and borrow it. Thanks for the reply...
I picked up a used one a long time ago for my daughter that had bad batteries. Replaced the two gel cells with one 12v garden tractor battery. Wow! That thing could do donuts in the driveway!

All chargers will get a little warm when charging. Why don't you measure the voltage at the battery and then plug in the charger and see if there is any change? If there is no increase in voltage, there is a good chance the problem lies with the charger.

When my son was about 4 or so I got him a Power Wheels Jeep. It had two 6 volt batteries wired in series. One shorted out and a replacement was like $30. I went to the farm store and walked up and down the battery aisle and found a small battery for a personal watercraft. It fit in the factory bracket, and after putting ring terminals on the wires worked better than original. Lots more power and longer run time, too. I completed this by mounting a 3 amp trickle charger next to the battery and wired it to the battery. When my son was done riding, all he had to do was plug it in. Worked well enough to wear the tread completely off of the plastic wheel!!! Last I knew, the people who bought my house duct taped the wheel, charged the battery and their son still rides it, some 5-6 yrs. later.

Back when mine was that young we got him the Jeep too, no Mods though, I kept is stock.

It's a 12 volt battery but not the same type as a MC battery. It has one plug that sticks into the center of it from the toy. The charger has a 2" long V-shaped plug that sticks into it. I know some come w/ 6 volt batteries but this is a 12 volt...
