Which portable Sirius receiver to get?
Which portable Sirius receiver to get?
I'm looking at getting Sirius, and all the receivers on the market are kind of confusing.
I am interested in using it in my work car and in my pickup, so it would be one of the portable ones that play through the factory radio via FM.
Is there anyone up to speed on these who could suggest a good receiver that is easy to use, easy to take with you between vehicles, and in the $100 to $150 range?

I have a XACT Visor in mine. Works great but the remote is hard to use. Bought at Target for $43. I had issues using the FM transmitter (to much ambient FM noise because of the area I'm in) so I installed a FM modulator switch relay on the radio antenna cable. The Visor is mounted in the cubby hole right in front of the shifter boot.
I have the satellite antenna mounted on the dash.

I use the Sportster Replay. It's made to easily remove, and place in another vehicle, house, or their portable boom box. I have another car mount, as well as the home dock. I also like the features of it, and highly recommend it.
I have a sportster and it works fine, but if I had an extra $80, I would get a starmate replay in a heartbeat. It will record the last 45 minutes of whatever you're listening to, it is small, and the best thing IMHO, is it has Artist Seek (as opposed to just song seek).
This is what I have in mine. The great thing about these is you can move them to other vehicles without paying the extra subscription fee and like I do with mine I can take it in the house and have all the sat music in my house as well.

Thanks for the input, guys.
I think I'm starting to get a grip on the differences, and prefer the ones with a big screen, and artist seek along with song seek would be nice.
Since I won't likely leave a car kit in the work car, it doesn't matter much to me whether or not it plugs in via a dock or if the plugs go into the unit directly.
Several people at work have the Sportster Replay, in the $150 range. I like the big screen, but they seem to market it more toward people who want to listen to sports channels (No artist seek is a bummer, and I have no use for game-alert or score-alert).
Another guy has the Starmate Replay, $100, but appears to be the same as the Sportster but with a small screen and apparently not set up for car dock?
The Starbase is nice, in that it has artist seek, but for the extra money I'd expect a 6 line screen.
I'm kind of interested in the Kenwood here-to-everywhere, in that it has a big screen, and (I think) has artist along with song seek... with a retail around $150... It looks like Audiovox may have one that fits the bill, but it is hard to find a detailed description of features on sirius recievers.
