Oster Professional Dog Trimmers. Detachable blades for surgical shave all the way up to the hippie 3/4" length.

Cutting my own since 2003, I am getting a fivehead (it used to be a forehead) so I used a straightrazor on it. Never again. It's a bugger to get the t-shirt off when it sticks to velcro stubble on day 3.

So back to the 3mm bladeset and trimmers for me.

Pretty short, but not to the mil spec shortness. Father is a barber so I really was never "allowed" to have long hair! Everytime I asked him to let it grow out longer, he cut it short and said he "forgot" .Only paid for 2 haircuts in my entire life and had to come home and have dad fix it both times!

Long-haired country boy.

Just past mid back, can't remember the last time I had a haircut. Must have been in my early teens, and that was more than a couple decades plus several years ago.

Professional mobile heavy duty mechanic. I make no excuses or apologies for my appearance, I let the quality of the work do the talking.

Pretty sure that captain caveman.... ( chaikwa ) would understand what I'm saying.

Today: short back and sides, leave as much as possible on top without making me look ridiculous. My hair has been maintained at various lengths over the years. I've had have hair down to my butt crack, and a shaved head, but like many have said before me in this thread, once it starts falling out it falls out faster if it's longer so that was the defining moment for me...the barber said "let's just cut it" and I agreed.

I swear, that was exactly what I was going to say (well not Peggy) but I need to add, much longer than 2 inches gives her too good of a handle.

amen. good words to live by.

i used to cut my own, but it is hard to shave the neck like required, wife would not help.

we lived in a tiny house, and it made a mess of the one bathroom.

when it's grown long enough for a #4 guard, and you cut it with a #1 guard,
it makes an almost microscopic pile of hair that blows & drifts and gets all over the bathroom.

then she made me cut it over a towel.
she washed the towel, and the fine tiny hairs got in her clothes,

and it was back to the barber.

my problem now is my SHOEI RF-1000 FF helmet has 3 "runners" on top that hold the weight of the helmet, so i end up with 3 "corn rows" on top of my noggin. so i have to wear a "doo rag" to protect my hair'do and thats HOT.

Mil spec high and tight. Aside from a haircut every 3-4 weeks, very low maintenance.

LOL, being the incurable cheapskate that I am, it ranges from high and tight to slightly longer than normal.

2 haircuts a year, spring and late Summer.

24 bucks a year is all I budget for hair.......

Yea, its gray by the grace of my kids.

Bald by choice - a buddy of mine got cancer when he was 23, and when his hair started falling out, me and another buddy shaved our heads with him and it's stuck... no maintenance!!!
