That's marketing. PS3 has so many compatibility issues I can't believe Sony would release it. But money talks.......
Hope it can be all fixed with firmware and not hardware upgrades.

all these people sitting at wall mart would not be sitting there if they had a job. i work at the f.d. and we figure we will have to go get some idiot injured by the stampede at around 1205 am .

Im not sure their such idiots...The local walmart has a guy with his brothers, each are getting a ps3, 600x3, 1800 dollars, and selling them for 5g's each, 5000x3, 15000.... thats around 14 thousand dollars profit...
smart in my book, and they only miss two days of work...

Its funny that you mention that, one of are favorite sayings for people we see buming around during the day is "they must work nights". No offense to the people that do though

Why on God's green earth would you spend that kind of money on something that has NO PRACTICAL USE????? I would rather spend $600-1K on stuff for my truck. I still can't understand why my roommate spends three hours after work everyday playing PS2. Geez, do something PRODUCTIVE! My roommate trys to get me to play the **** thing "hey man ya wanna play? its fun, cmon try it." No its not fun, it's an enormous waste of time and money! If I wanna do something fun I'll go wash and wax my truck or work on my Charger or ride my motorcycle. Get a hobby for the love of God!

This is funny , My wife is in line right now @ Wally World waiting on one. We have no intention of opening the box. We are also going to sell it to the spoiled little rich kids whose parents will pay a grand + for this stupid thing...

Yes I found out people were waiting for 2 or even more days... 
BTW is this really exploiting? This guy has time to wait online, someone else doesn't. Time is money.
(I don't think $5000 re-sale is reasonable but I think $1200 - i.e. double original cost, is.)
