(and high caliber vandals!)

Have they solved any of these problems?

We have a huge wind Farm down here around Tehachapi hundreds of them, (prop jobs big and small, and egg beaters) At any given moment half aren't working (during heavy winds). Not to mention the mounds of dead birds below them.

Anybody have the numbers on profitability for wind?

I think wind is a good theory, But they need to get past how warm and fuzzy it makes everybody feel, and really focus on fixing some of the major issues. instead of this "if you subsidize/ mandate it, they will come" mentality.

thats my .02

D-C out!

PS If I have missed the mark and unbeknown to me wind is super cheap, highly profitable, and super low environmental impact, and the powers that be aren't mandating or subsidizing these installations I apologize.
Its never fails to get me that some imply that there is a way to make energy that has no effect , then turn around & make senseless statements or believe them off hand , MOUNDS OF BIRDS , I have never heard this from anyone 1st hand , I have heard that , windows kill far more birds than windmills ever will , [ ban windows ] , oh wait , life is hazardous , ban life .

Dead birds at the bottom of a windmill is just "survival of the fittest" ! If it even happens. Same thing when I see a dead dog on the side of the road. I'm sorry, I feel for dumb animals , but.....Stupid animals won't survive. Only the strong and smart one's will! Dinasours died and now we are getting oil out of the ground from them! There is always a sacrifice. Sorry for my lack of compassion.

Wink windmills ; not political argument, okay?

nuclear power is unsafe?! Oh DIESELDUDE say it ain't so....! heheh
have you seen the out of control office workers tape? scarrrrrry...wooooOooo

AMAZING to hear from all about the US and Canada as to what is going up and how (scattered, or nice neat rows).

and heck yeah! JOBS!!! yeah, for the guy who is the crane operator- I'll bet you'd love to try that a few times!! and get the paycheck too!

this is all just interesting to me. we are in the process of making a cylindrical windmill (stands about 10 foot high) that we saw in a paper. then the guy just fell off the planet or something.. we were intrigued by the idea and have a steady wind of the Saint lawrence river (recreational property)
to do it. I am still waiting for electricity there as I was speaking to the planner about a marine generator and going off grid. Boy, was that the wrong thing to say! hooo boy......

the bird issue has it; no mounds per US dept of Health. more killed by any other manmade objects... hope it's starlings or crows too. feel like Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" sometimes walking past the fields.

keep it coming fellas, love to learn here! free coffee in the breakroom!
just not good coffee....

You idiots, those are not for power generation. The ones in New York are just huge fans used by the government to keep that cold Canadian air from blowing down here. Bring on the conspiracy theories. The ones in Texas are used to push the hurricanes toward Florida.

well Homeland Security buried their head in the sand, guess I have to get Hillary's public relations master to twist this around now. and you wondered where the WHOPPER went?

and the ones in border towns are just elevators for safer travel by illegals?

Hey I was wrong, I just ran across future energy.org. Says roads account for more bird deaths than wind power. But the real danger is GLOBAL WARMING! 25% of all bird species will be extinct by 2050 unless WE doo Something! Guess we better all turn in our Rigs. Since our carbon emitting, bird killing, ignorant, flat earth, heads in the sand, road driving, bird murdering, oil burning, consensus denying behinds are the root cause for us to even need freakin Wind Power !

I will concede the "mounds of birds" is a bit contrived and thrown around a lot. But how many condors need to be killed here where I am at before they are screaming to shut them down? And, have they solved the profitability problems? How much energy does it cost the earth to create and install these mills vs what they produce/save? Have they made them more reliable? Do they pay for themselves before the first breakdown on average? Is the Govt. sending the company's grants and subsidies and overlooking the cost benefit analysis? Are people building these things because they should or cause they can. If the Tax payers are funding these or making up the difference I say no!

I guess we are in challenging times and emotions are running high. I hope I haven't truly made anyone angry here.

Merry Christmas to all!

May we approach the worlds issues with cooler heads in the new year!

There are 26 VERY large wind turbines going up right outside my farms gate. I don't really see the problem with them to be honest. There will always be people that complain about them. But, these are usually the same people who want to shut down nuclear and coal burning power plants also. So, these people are never really satisfied. I guess we should all just give up on power and live like Grizzly Adams. That would be fine with me but the wife would not like it a bit.

First off I live in the country and have a set of High line towers that cut threw the Ranch. And I would much rather see Windmills in their place. All the dead birds can feed the Coyotes and Wolves instead of my calves
I get a kick out of people that say save the birds. Kinda reminds me of Ducks Unlimited all these men and women want to save the enviroment so the population of Ducks goes up. And to celebrate they go out and shoot them

You hit the nail right on the head with that statement! I honestly believe some people NEED to complain about something to be happy or 'fulfilled' or something. Usually two words will shut them down, "show me", because they can't.

Wink heheh

you got that mrs McL in your bonnet , don't you? buzzing all the time...

she was decent to you last time for therapy, right? who knows what miracle can be found this year! best of luck, there scotty!

Test wind meter up on farmland. big 'bus them in' complainers at town meetings. posted flyers all over, but no support of facts. yada yada
two 'men living together' to be PC, were upset neighbors because they complained about the sst tower ruining their view of the local village to the South. that was their only complaint. trouble is that the village in reference is to the east and no where near any view they would have.......

I agree, some non affected folks need to just say NO to showing up to hear themselves talk.....

LOVE to hear about the different sites here....Keep postin' ! it is nice to hear what people think! and I never thought about birds feeding the coyotes and wolves...I hope they crash and feed before ANY calf is taken! just the business sense in me talkin'.....would hate to do that kind of round-up.
