Is This Our Future?

new traffic law in london,england- drive your non-hybrid truck, suv, or what they consider a non-fuel efficient or high emmision vehicle into london and it will cost you $50 for the day! as rediculous as it sounds, some american politicians and environmental activists are saying they would support similar legislation, and will see if it can be phased in here.

Yeah, no kidding. The last time England tried crap like that, all the smart people picked up and left to start their own country !!!

Unfortunately, we already have something like that in the name of the "gas-guzzler" tax. Only gonna get worse fellas.

I was reading an article that stated that cali was trying to pass a law that would make all new residential HVAC instalations to include a thermostat that was hooked up the internet and could be controled by people in Sacremento. If they thought that you were using too much power they would just change or turn off your heat/ac. There is no overide mode either. It does not have enough support to pass yet but give it time.

IMHO, they try that here, I can only imagine what the trucking industry would have to say.

You think thats bad...have a read of the attached link......don't know for sure if it has happened yet.....Pleased I live up the other end of the country.......

http://www.parkingandtrafficappeals....atest_News.htm

The cost of this has got to be passed on to the consumer...........the older type trucks delivering produce/school and passenger buses....$400 a day.!!!!!!

I can understand to a certain degree about them wanting to reduce traffic in city centers etc....I reckon London will be a ghost city if that happens............And we are supposed to be holding the olympics in 2012...........You think anyone will turn up..???

i thought we're not supposed to have taxation without representation, but i see a whole lot of laws and taxes that are put into effect without the approval of voters. 'for the good of the people' laws, fees, 'sin' taxes, etc. can be found in countries where the gov't controls all alcohol sales, and a 750 ml bottle of liquor that would cost around $15 here, costs around $50 after tax.
