We're fine in my area... A couple business lost decorative roofs and power.
A neighbor lost most of the siding on one side of their house.
I lost a (one single board) out of my privacy fence.
I saw a couple good limbs and small trees down on the way to work.
I'd say for the most part, we on the east side of the state are fine, its the once in the center of the state that need the help.

Well, after contacting the Moore city office, they requested only financial donations. I was considering loading up a car that I really dont need, along with some household items and making the trip down from PA, to donate all of it to a family in need. I dont know anyone from that area, so it may just be a waste of time.

Locally, they are asking for cleaning supplies, baby supplies, etc. then again, its not far to transport.

Cash donations to red cross or salvation army is the best option. They will turn around to major suppliers and order what is needed.

One Lucky dog.... although the reporters should be beaten and thrown under a pile of debris for not helping her (and the dog) out.

I think that's one of the best ideas I've heard in a long, long time! If only everyone that was able would do something like that...

For some reason I really feel compelled to try and help someone out in OK. I sent an email to a local church there, asking if there is anything they may need, awaiting response.

It's not looking good. There was another storm tracking toward Moore and OKC has had multiple. It'll be daylight before anything solid is known and tomorrow will be a long day.

should be here about midnight or so.
We are kinda in a questionable area. if it tracks east, it may graze our area, it it goes north any, it should miss us by then. south, we get hit. 5 inches of rain across us and arkansas aint looking good.

I'm always torn over that. I don't like the amount of money the Red Cross and some others spend in the admin area. That said, in April of 2011 when the EF5 came out of MS and plowed through the middle of Tuscaloosa and Birmingham I wanted to help. I made some calls, got on the TV and a local radio talk show and made 5 trips south with water, hygiene items, food, pet food etc. Rest assured I felt better and by making contact with one of the local EMA directors I put the supplies in places I never knew existed except on the 5th trip. On that one I was sent to the west side of Mississippi and ended up in a couple of the major collection points. By that time the Government was starting to respond and water and ice were plentiful. Clothes and toys were pouring in. That's when I learned about the problems associated with personal donations. The areas hit were just that, hit and hit hard. There were no buildings available to keep the clothes etc under cover so the first rain that came along soaked everything. In 90 plus degree temps mold was the next next thing that popped up, in the clothes. Once they start molding they're toast and now you've got that much more stuff that has to be disposed of.

All that said, I would still do it again but, I would make sure I targeted the small, easily overlooked areas. Contact the local fire departments. I delivered water to one area where the volunteer fire department serviced 3 communities. These guys had been hard at it for several days but showed up when I did, right at dark with pickups, ATV's etc and took the water door to door. They knew who lived where, who was elderly and who had kids and they made sure everybody got something. That's what I wanted to see.
