Oil analysis

Anyone here use oil analysis? I probably won't do it regularly, but I'm interested to see what's in the oil on the 'new' truck. Think I'd like to see how the loader is doing too and I was wondering who you use.

That's what I thought, but the free kit they send out only has one test kit in it. To get 2 I'd have to buy 6 of them for $120. That'd last me 3 years!

I emailed them a few weeks back asking for extras as I am going to do analysis on the crank, trans, and maybe the diffs and transfer case on MEGA Mega.
I want to see how things are going with my truck at just over 150K miles before I do more stuff to it.
Blackstone for me. Containers are here.

I did not know an electric chair had all those fluids. Hopefully they are extra capacity too. Make you even slower yet.

We use Polaris Labs, you buy a prepaid kit and can use it for any fluid. Make sure you sample the oil hot immediately following engine shut down. You should buy a sample extraction pump and draw straw so you can pull a sample through the dip stick tube. It provides the most accurate real world sample.

I've used Blackstone. I have a couple sample bottles here but didn't pull one this time because I didn't want to spend another $25. Yall just said it but I think I prepaid for these sample bottles - doh! I could have pulled the same and sent it off, already paid for

I had a great experience with blackstone, take time to analyze and write specific comments for my truck. They send a free bottle out first, you pay when analyzed, the second time I did they just sent me two bottles free ahead of time for the next samples.

Blackstone seems more personalized while Polaris seems more professional and in-depth. I like the on-line reports aspect of Polaris better than Blackstone.

I'll keep comparing the two for a little bit. It'll be a few weeks before I drop the oil in the truck anyway.

Thanks for all the replies!

I've used blackstone for a while... and I continue to use them. Great customer service.

Yes, my personal info is on there, but I'm not worried... it's all over the net anyway elsewhere.

The last report I had showed coolant, and when they rebuilt my turbo, they also said they saw traces of coolant in the bearings... not sure what happened, maybe it was when I lifted the head on my last dyno run...

The fuel in the oil.... I have no clue. I keep telling them my truck has a few mods on it... maybe they'll believe me one day... as long as it's trace, I'm not going to sweat it, if you're wondering...

Oh, yeah, after I had done a few oil samples with them, they sent me a case of sample bottles...
