Not All Animals Can Square Off With A Ram.

Got off work at 11:30 last night, headed home on the service road (that seems to be packed w/ deer during this time of year). I just had that gut feeling that I was going to smack one on my way home. Sure enough, about a 1/4 mile from my driveway a decent sized doe jumps right out of the ditch, I didn't even bother to hit the brakes, she was already in my grill when I seen her. I was going 55mph when we met. I thought for sure my grill was blown apart but when I got out, I couldn't help but laugh. I only suffered a broken license plate mount. And people say lifted trucks are useless.

Some of the hair.

I knew I should of took the freeway home.

If that was one of our Ohio deer it would have been in laying in your front seat Hope that the truck turns out okay.

It might be bent, I haven't really got down there and looked at it hard. I have to go wire up a trailer plug so I'll look when im down there.

I hit a buck about two years ago, he knocked the front bumper off, flew in the air and caved in the windshield, he then rolled off the top of the car and took off in the woods with only 3 legs. When he hit the bumper one of his legs nearly snapped off. Those deers are tuff as nails.

Man that sounds scary.. I hit one in my Ford doing about 70 mph and caused $4,000 worth of damage. The deer got back up off the road and ran into the woods like nothing happened. Never did find that thing

Hitting a Elk would make for a bad day, especially with a new truck.

I talked to a driver at work last night, he hit a full grown moose in his Kenworth a couple years back, he said it looked like someone threw a grenade at the front of his truck. I wonder what a full grown moose weighs, 1200 lbs?

In a way it's a good thing I hit this deer, my buddy was behind me on his Harley. I would of hate to seen him hit it. ouch .

Oh btw, I looked at that mount. The mount is fine, just the bushing is worn out and it's starting to shift. I 'm sure Thuren or somebody sells aftermarket bushings?

www.lazarsmith.com sells bushings.

You might want to go shopping for a front end replacement hd bumper! Deer seem attracted to your truck.

..

Yea, I was hoping that when I hit the deer it would of done more damage then break the mount for the plate. It would of gave me a good reason to get alot of front end work done, including a new bumper.

Looks like they have some nice Urethane Bushings from LazarSmith, i'll have to give them a call.

That was a result of my own stupidity. I was pressure washing it this last winter and I sprayed the fins at an angle. I 'm going to have to pull the front bumper to really get in there and straighten them out.

not too bad of a hit. I hit a doe doing about 65-70mph a couple years ago in my mom's suburban, right smack in the center. No body work, or lights, just mounts, bumper and an AC condencer.

Oh I hit it right in front of Cabelas....could there be a more appropriate spot?
