Good morning from a slightly wet Paradise. We had lots of nice rain last night. It started to rain the minute the gardener arrived to mow the lawn, so he will come back another day.

OK, early birds, where are you? The worms are out and taunting you.

Not going to make coffee or ph00 as I am waiting to see if Ol-dodge 1992 will come through.

Some of you need lots of exercise, so here is something for you to start the day;

The Importance of Walking

Walking can add minutes to your life.
This enables you at 85 years old
To spend an additional 5 months in a nursing
Home at $7000 per month.

My grandpa started walking
Five miles a day when he was 60.
Now he's 97 years old
And we don't know where he is.

I like long walks,
Especially when they are taken
By people who annoy me.

The only reason I would take up walking
Is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I have to walk early in the morning,
Before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

I joined a health club last year,
Spent about 400 bucks.
Haven't lost a pound.
Apparently you have to go there.

Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise',
I wash my mouth out with chocolate.

The advantage of exercising every day
Is so when you die, they'll say,
'Well, he looks good doesn't he.'

If you are going to try cross-country skiing,
start with a small country.

I know I got a lot of exercise
The last few years....
Just getting over the hill.

We all get heavier as we get older,
Because there's a lot more information in our heads.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

AND

Every time I start thinking too much
About how I look,
I just find a Happy Hour
And by the time I leave,
I look just fine.

If you don't forward this to 1 of your friends within the next 5 minutes, your belly button will unscrew and your fanny will fall off.

Really.... It's true! It must be because I read it on the internet.

OK, ph00 and coffee are here - - - place looks pretty good. Soooo, I made a big pot of oatmeal, brown sugar, milk in box, craisins and raisins on counter in the little plastic box, but waiting for OldDodge to bring the strawberries and other neat sounding stuff he has.

Just brought wife home from eye guy - - says all is good today. That is good.

Grabbing my ph00 and out of here. .........................

Sorry guys ... nothing worse than dropping the ball on your first breakfast run ( I didn't know you guys were so hungry in the morning!!) ...

There has been a spree of burglaries in town lately and we live just outa town ... dog was going crazy last night (sometimes it's elk in ... sometimes coyotes) anyways with all the stuff happening in town my mind was saying "you better be safe than sorry so get up and go check it out" ... so I'm out there 3 times last night with my bazillion lume tactical flash light checking things out ... sooo I'm DRAGGING this morning and the coffee is great !!!

Kids beat me to the fresh berries yesterday... so I pulled some Saskatoon berries out of freezer that we picked couple weeks ago and the maple syrup is the real deal ... should of probably pulled the oatmeal pot off the burner while you were waiting on me, I guess we can use forks and knives

I'll make it up to you guys

First chance in a looong week to check in. See I have missed a ton of great vittles nd some excitement. Lots of manpower issues this week to deal with. The worst part was last Sunday. Took a nice little flight around the area and did some formation work with a guy and his Dad. The kid left for sand country today for about a year. Was a great time of fellowship! When I landed, I helped spot for his Mom who is a professional photographer. Got some great pictures of Dad and Son flying down the runway in a Citabria and a Champ. BUT,,,,, When I got in my plane, the seat back broke and dumped me. All fixed now and the proper 337's filed and approved but glad it did it on the ground. Turned out an upholstery screw had created a stress riser in the seat frame. Looked long term issue from discoloration. Oh the joys of buying a 51 year old airplane!

Have fun with the eclipse. We will be at 98% at the house.

Gooooood morning DTR!!!

Rise and shine and greet the day. The Lord promised in His Word that as your day is so will your strength be, I don't know what kinda day you will have but God promised He'll give you strength to get through it!!

Breakfast is almost ready... I'm doing cheese and spinach omelettes, fresh eggs from our chickens yesterday ... spinach out of the hoop house ... and white or brown toast with little butter and this summers honey ( has a hint of lemon taste ... don't ask me why or how the honey has that hint of flavor... nothing even close to citrus within 1,000 miles)... and franks hot sauce if your inclined. Even pulled out my old perk coffee pot and she bubbling up in the sight glass.

Anyway, spent yesterday fixing the kidos fort swing set I built them . Piece of 3" pipe 14 ft long from work, three heavy duty playground style swings , pipe set at 12'6" high and then built a 6' wide by 8 ' extension on the end post for a tire swing... install tire swing today and then start figuring out how to build a slide ( priced a HD straight slide last year and about had heart attack at the quote)

Was gonna start adjusting the tranny on the old piece today but need a torque wrench that reads inch pounds... NAPA wants $95 ... I'm sure I can catch a 3/8 and 1/2 combo on sale at Canadian Tire for less in the next week or so. So until then...

The cheese is melted, the coffee is ready, dragon is sitting at table with napkin tied around his neck ... the days a wasting away boys

Wow, I had to squeeze thru the door to get in -- there is food everywhere and it smells wonderful. Trouble is, we just got in from the Breakfast Cottage, our favorite breakfast spot. Does not seat many people, so it always surprises us how many times we find friends in there - - likewise today. Had a "surprise" quiche today - - it was wonderful with a great crunchy crust and very good grits. So, I will grab a small ph00 and go get something destructive done for the day.

Termination dust on the hills behind the shack, winters coming.
Surprise! The orthopedic clinic scheduled my wrist surgery for next Wednesday and didn't tell me or my doctor, or my workman's comp coordinator. We only found out about it on Monday. My boss isn't real happy about it either because of our backlog on maintenance coming up, but too bad. Tired of working in pain.
Gotta try and fix the old 1st gen this weekend if the weather will allow.

Snow dust in August!!! Only in Alaska eh?!

We had first frost on Tuesday this week ... a few of the aspen trees are starting to yellow up just a little... thought I heard a bull elk bulging last night way up on the ridge

Be glad your getting surgery quick... Ive got a knee that is bumbed up and the process to actually get to the surgeon (sorta a last resort mindset) is sooo drawn out...

Takes 4-6 months sometimes on the waiting list to get MRI scan ... then local doc has to read it then refer you to specialist that run a few more tests and scans ( months and months and etc...) then that specialist refers you to one of a dozen of surgeons their office is tethered to and then you get on the list for whatever surgery it is

Of course the more serious stuff gets priority... IF you are not to old, then it is not expedient for the surgery as you don't have enough life left to actually contribute back into the tax system... gotta love social medicine.

I thank the Lord for where we live and what we do but sometimes I just scratch my head and shrug my shoulders... as I do not understand

Have a great day guys ... hope breakfast was to your taste BUT I ain't doing the dishes!!!

If your injury is work related here, it's not much better. The gov controls how much gets paid out. So the doctors, clinics, hospitals, etc, etc, do the least they can get away with then slam the door behind you. If I had received the proper diagnosis and care when the injury occurred, I would not be facing a permanent limitation.

Fresh coffee and stopped by Tim Horton grabbed a dozen assorted... gotta run and put tools up from finishing the tire swing section of kidos swing set ... had the drill the pipe and run a blot through it so when they are really given er' swinging the post doesn't "walk" off the end of pipe ... when I cut the pipe square at work there was a solid shaft that stubbed out the end about 3 ft or so ... I have no idea how deep it goes in the pipe but it was a JOB standing on the cross member for the tire swing and trying to drill a 3/8 hole through a solid 3" pipe!!!!!!

Have a good one guys
