Smile New Years

First I want to say Thank You to all of you who made this possible. Sorry for taking a bit to get it posted, between having my digital camera in repair for months and anything that could go wrong did but I finally got it taken.

How was your New Year in your part of the world?
It was pretty un-eventful here for us, we went to have a nice dinner, I had to back into a parking at Black Angus and when we came out some person in a SRWcrew-cab Ford parks about 2 feet over my line so I could not get my duals past. I finally got out and I rewarded him by leaving him an “Illegal Parking Vehicle will be TOWED” sticker stuck to is window. MORON.

Around 10:30 P.M. the neighbor’s party starts and the music begins, (3 bachelor firefighters)
By midnight only my daughter and I were awake, I watched the crystal ball go down several times and then turned the channel. Still people and cars going up and down the street till about 3:00 then it dies down. Spent time on the computer and then finally went to bed.
I got up this morning and my wife told me that by 8:00 A.M. that some people had gone through the neighborhood and slashed the tires on over 150 vehicles and the 2 neighbors at the end of the cul-de-sac had their ‘s cut, trucks, SUV’s, cars anything they could find. The police said that anyone that did not have lights on got hit. They hit 2 cities of Covina and West Covina and it was supposedly done by punk rockers. We have some pretty sick twisted people here in California; guess they were making a statement against tires. The Sheriff came by and asks my wife if I could check my recordings for the surveillance cameras and see if I could see anyone suspicious in the area. All I found at 4:00 A.M. was a car make a U turn wait for a minuet then turn around and leave.
When I went out today you could see the trucks, minivans with their tires cut alongside the road. Looked like after the riots in L.A.

Most places were closed today.
Sears stayed open hours past their closing time and must have made a killing selling tires. Looks like most people either don’t carry insurance or have too high of a deductible to cover things like this I on the other hand carry too much with $00.00 deductible.
The New Year feels exactly like the last year did but maybe it is too soon to tell.
So what went on where you live?
Jim

I had an uneventful New Years eve watched the boring ball drop. Kissed the wife and baby and slept like a log.

Woke up and went to breakfast with a bunch of chapter #21 DTR members since the Drags were rained out and returned home just in time to see my 10x20 tent type car port fly like a kite, (45 lb ea concrete pier blocks still attached), onto my RV pad upside down, in the 60mph winds we had today. Thank god there was no RV there!

Mine was pretty nice for a change.. usually I wind up working an 8om to 4 am shift every new Years eve. Yhis year I made arrangements for a 4 day weekend to install my guages and new trans pan.. Well they didn't mike it by the weekend, but it did rain all weekend so no real loss I guess.

18 year old neighbor across the street parents were out of town... she was allowed to have 1 or 2 friends over for the evening.. I think she misunderstood because there were 100 or 200 people over there. I really don't know what she was thinking!!! we have a pretty tight neighborhood and by midnight her parents had been called on their cell phone by several of us. Around 12:30 she pushed them all out the front door and locked the house.. Well that only got them out of the house.. the party continued out front till at least 2am.

It will be a sad time for here when her parents get home.. several neighbors took pictures so there is no way she can minimize the party..

Sunday changed the oil in my little gasser truck between the rain and stayed in and dry..

Is it raining where you are? I am watching my security monitor (7 camera view from the cozy house) and it is raining and the wind has really picked up.
I'am out. Jim

Not too much happened here for New Years. I had breakfast with some Chp #27 members and met some new Dieselheads. I was in bed @ 9:30.

I'm sitting here watching the news and they say we have gotten 8'in of rain and the next storm is suppose to be rolling through in the next few hours and there expecting another 4-6'in this afternoon. I'm glad I don't have to work today. But I'll probably head out this morning and go check things out.

Happy New Year to all.

Tye
