Smile new pup!

hey everybody meet amber,

my new yellow lab.
when shes old enough i want to say "load up" and i want her to jump on the back of the truck and go to town, the lake, to get fuel, or just where ever i go. ive always wanted to do that

we had a male lab named jake a couple years ago. he was 11 or 12 years old and dad had to put him down. getting hard for him to get around and all. i decided it was time for a new pup.

Amber is a cute one!

I want to do the same thing with my German Shorthair when I get him.

Should be pretty soon, since we signed a contrcact on our first house this morning!

Cute Pup.

Too bad they can't stay at that puppy stage.

Obi the Min-Pin is already starting to get along better with Princess, and it's only been a couple of weeks.

Move to Utah,
I'd never seen a flea in my life till I visited a friend in California.

Ticks on the other hand, seen more than my share.

Fleas and ticks are bad here. Didn't get cold enough to kill em this winter. My wife has an inside (duh, we live in apartment) Chihuahua that we pick fleas off regularly...

The stuff you put down their back worked well when I had outside dogs... (Frontline?)

Products like Advantage, Frontline and Revolution are good for fleas, ticks, heartworm prevention, etc., but be careful - our vet didn't want us using them until our puppy was (IIRC) about 2 or 3 months old since they protect through the dog's bloodstream. We had to rely on a puppy flea collar until then.

Our vet doesn't spay/neuter until the puppy is over 4 months old.

If you don't have a good vet, I'd really suggest getting one you trust and talking to him/her. After all, the vet will be doing the spaying anyway, right?

Here's Coby, our new Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie), at 9 weeks old:

Cute dog brian!

Anyways try that stuff called Knockout, if you can find it, it works well for flea and tick replants on my blue heeler. Congrats on the new pup..

Cute pups !!!!

If you want a natural, safe treatment for fleas & ticks .... go to the pool supply store and pick up some Diatomaceous Earth. (no, I'm not hitting the rum again, I promise )

It is used as a filtering agent in swimming pool systems. It is made of the microscopic exo-skeletons of Diatomes. The diatomes have little spikes all over their bodies and when the ticks and fleas start crawling over them, they are cut open and eventually dehydrate or become infected and die. Rub this stuff full strength into the coat of your animal. Won't hurt the pup because they are only a couple microns in size ... way too small for us to even notice.

You can use this stuff all around your house for other crawling insect control as well. You can even mix it in your dogs canned food and it helps with worms in the digestive system. PERFECTLY SAFE TO DO.

Have fun with your new buddy !!

Oh ya anything you can do while there young they will be much more comfortable for them when older. For example if you want her to ride in the bed of your truck when your doin yard work just set her in there and let her get used to it.

Nice pup, Yes I agree find a good vet and discuss with them over options for flea and tick treatments. I would be hesitant to use any chemicle on her being so young.
