Good morning Ladies and Gents. A sad weekend at the homestead. Went to a event with a bunch of guy's from my part time job, had some food and some beers, looked at equipment and talked shop talk. Got home around 00:30 sat. got out of my truck and watered the weeds then a quick security glance at everything as I walked to the house, everything in the norm so I hit the rack. Wake up to State and local P.D. banging on the front door @ 07:00, I think oh boy what happened to one of my 2 kids that have their own place? Cops ask who owns the lot next to me I state I do, why? They state that a crime was committed there and did we hear anything, then the usual where were you, yadayada for all of us. Then they state that a female was raped and brutally beaten on my lot 150' from my house last night (heavily wooded frontage). They then state she came to the only house that had lights on and rang the door bell and knocked (my house). I never heard a thing, dog never moved or made a sound. I start to become over run with remorse and disbelief that I never heard a thing and this poor woman was in desperate need for help. I expect and deal with these thing at work which is the main reason I moved out of the city and to this town. The worst thing to happen out here is a cow tipping or some kid doing donuts in your field.
Needless to say, it was a long night last night, no sleep for me with lots of patrol time around my property. Self defense drill school for the wife and daughter along with tactical placement of defensive items. I am really mad about this, both at my self and the perp, nuff said for now.
