Speaking from first hand experience on this, it's not going to be easy.
This is going to be a tough road, it will consume you and all of your energy.
Stay strong, stay focused, and all will turn out ok.
I could go on for hours about this, but i'll just say this.
You will be surprised at the amount of fight that little girl has in her.

Kids are amazing! My daughter was born w/ a serious heart defect. She has had 2 surguries and in 3 days she will have her third. Believe me its harder on the parents than the little ones. Their ability to cope and heal is awesome and inspiring. You and your family are in our family's prayers.

 

Children's resilience is astounding. I know this first hand as my 8-year-old daughter has been through, and will continue to go through, a lot in her life. Be strong for her, but you'll also find that she'll be strong for you. As big an upheaval as this is to a family, don't let it take away from all the normal things in life that you and your family do. It's going to be a long haul but you'll all adapt; she'll be fine .

 

I will remember her in my prayers.

From yet another parent of a child with a Congenital Heart Defect, please keep us posted. It will do so much for you to get some words of encouragement, and of course we all are pulling for Abby, but we are also pulling for you. I have a good idea what you are going through right now, and I know how it helped having friends and family that can help share the burden. While we cannot take the leukemia from her, most of us have broad shoulders and big hearts, and we are willing to help our if and when we are allowed. Right now I am writing this from Orlando Florida, as the Make a Wish people sent us down for my daughter and what she has been through. She will have to have surgeries all through her life, and this is their way of showing what fun life can be. It has it's ups and downs, but the downs are never for very long. Please do not lose the faith, as God will look after Abby. Your family is in our prayers, and we wish you the best. PM me if you ever need a shoulder to lean on, or a buddy to buy you a beer.
