We've seen them before beside our garage and down a fence row. Those made a good mess for a few people one night. Great stuff.

We can usually get trashbags full on the farm. They're like manna... they pop up over night and you better get them before they go.
In 5 years you should have a nice spot there. I usually put off mowing as long as I can for the morels.
Good in scrambled eggs too.

Nothing further yet. It's warming up for them but need some more rain.

You don't like eggs either... you probably grew up finicky like my brothers. All they'd eat was cereal and pizza...

Ya know, I seen this thread and thought nothing of it. Well today, I went out on the Yellowstone River stopping at Islands to look for deer sheds or old dead bucks. Well if I didnt happen to walk right into a patch of Morels. Never seen them before or never noticed, but I picked them. There was 17 in that patch. I went back to the boat to grap a plastic sack and back to the same spot. I spent the the rest of the day looking for these ugly things. In total, I found 46 just on the one island. I can honestly say, that was as much fun as shed hunting! Killen two birds at the same time. Morels/Antlers. There are about 15 islands where I go, so the rest of the weeks should be fun. I did notice they were all on the north side and in the shaded dead leafy areas. Don't know how to cook them or save them yet, but I will sure learn now. Nice thread!

Now that you're hooked, take an onion bag to carry them in. it lets the spores get redeposited while you walk around. Other than sauteyed in butter, they're good any way you'd use mushrooms. I scramble them with eggs, or cook them on the side with a steak or trout.
