Re:More rioting.
CummnzPwr, I think I see your point, but I wouldn't really call that corruption. You might have been unlucky enough to run into four guys having bad days. Where I have a problem is with the police agencies, or more specifically the political entities that control them. For example, the local newspaper published a story early this year that the KC police department had a "goal" of writing x number of speeding tickets this year. I only know a couple of cops personally (not counting acquaintances on this board) and they absolutely hate doing this kind of stuff. Now, no one is arguing that if someone deserves a ticket they shouldn't get one, but this sounds like "revenue enhancement" to me. Plus, I think if the department is dedicating a greater number of officers simply to writing speeding tickets, other things are quite likely being neglected. Again, this has nothing to do with individual officers, most of whom, I'm sure, would rather be catching real bad guys instead of the guy who's late to work and doing 10 over.

Our friends on the site who are in law enforcement might be able to weigh in on whether this is a common practice or not.

Corrupt because they did their job and issued a ticket?

Corruption would be taking a $20 instead of writing the ticket.

If you don't break the law, you have nothing to worry about.
If you run, you increase your chance of breaking even more laws, if not dying trying.

I don't get it.

phox
Re:More rioting.
OK, so you have real crappy luck with the police ... crud happens.
I got pulled over recently for speeding up to make it through a really, really yellow light (actually had a pink shade to it
). I was honest with the officer and treated him with the same respect that I expected in return, and he knocked the violation down to failure to obey traffic device ...speed limit sign and traffic light. I was in the wrong and in no way "the victim".

Wrong is wrong bud ... own up to it, pay the fines and move on.

PISTOL
