I remember when...

An FM converter was a "must have".

It was fun trying to see how many buddies you could pack into your trunk for the drive in.

It was hard trying to tell your buddies you had another reason for going the drive in, "without" them.

I couldn't wait for the weekend, square dancing with my girl. Then off to Clare's Café for a hot fudge sundae and pizza at Ray's in Wintersville.

I used to mow grass as a kid and a good week would net $27, that was big bucks!

I remember my dad taking me fishing and hunting and being the most patient person in the world.

I remember the "World television premier" of the planet of the apes.... they should've nipped it in the bud.

Cable tv was new with the slide-selector. That's how surfing started, you HAD to see the other channels to get to the one you wanted. Cinneview became cinnemax, about the time HBO came out.

Saw Star wars at the drive-in. Remeber wishing I was old enuff to watch Jaws at the drive-in, playing across the lot.

MTV played music videos, usually the same 12 over and over, because there weren't anymore.

I remember all the country singers on the info-mercials (no info-mercials either) these days, that had main stream hits and played on Hee-Haw. (Grandparents always had it on, after Lawrence Welk).

Use to go up to the corner with a note to pick up a pack of cigarettes, and carry them back with an 8 pack of Pepsi bottles, cardboard handle cutting into my hands. I think that's why I never took up smokeing.

I remember

Long walks down the RR track with friends & dogs to go to the swimming hole
First french kisser- wow!
Smoking rabbit tobacco
Building forts & minnow ponds in the woods
Bicycles with "ape hanger" handle bars & a playing card in the spokes
Real M-80 firecrackers
6 cent short cokes. I knew the world was going to hell in a handbasket when they changed the cooler that was full of water that made you run a "maze" to get your drink & put in the new 10 cent machines.
Nudie books with all the good parts airbrushed out
Singing into the window fan

I remember:
My first 45 record "Kung-Fu Fighting" (now that will be stuck in everyone else's head that remembers the song)

Playing down the basement with my Evel Knievel wind up motor cycles and the car that flew apart when it hit something.

Holding the neighborhood record for jumping 7 trash cans on my Schwinn (w/banana seat). I later broke it in half and my dad's construction friend welded it back together.

Having to clap erasers for kissing a girl under the art table in kindergarten.

When I got my license and was able to drive dad's old '73 Plymouth Satellite Sebring

When I used to be a gasser driver

Geez. Thanks for that. That's almost as bad as "Hang Down your head, Tom Dooley"

How about trick or treating without armed body guards before you had to worry about razor blades in apples or someone putting lsd tabs in candy?

Watching "flipper"?

the tube TV getting fuzzy and Dad doing "the Fonz" to it?

The Fonz?

The highlite of my racing career. The home town guy puts it all together and lays one on his own hero.

Also remember getting in 1st car crash with my buddy driving his dad's 56 Buick. The beer truck bumped us pretty hard but didn't do any real damage and the guy gave us a couple cases of beer if we didn't call the cops. ( he was drunk). We were 13 at the time! My buddy's olders sisters spotted us with it and said "We're taking this stuff or we are going to tell mom". What could we do against 18-19 yr old sisters?? Well better them get caught with it than us.
