Maybe I had the wrong company linked-- I can't see it behind my 'wall here. I did receive a employment notice from an EOD contractor in theater that's paying well over 80K/yr

Our son went in the army just over a year ago, at the age of 31. He not only kept up with the younger ones in training he out did them. He is doing great and like what he is doing. He is in Patriot missiles. He recently married, she is also in the army. Right now is stationed at Ft Bliss, in ElPaso.
Best of luck in what ever you chose to do.

Only you can decide but I don't think you'll get any negative comments from anyone on here. I went in (the canoe club though) in 72 and got out in 76 and don't regret a minute of it. Without the training I received in there, I would not be making (well, I won't even tell you what I make) what I make today.
You got my full support and my thanks if you do.
We have started an adopt a soldier program here at work. One person is selected for you to support by sending letters, goodies, and so on. I think it is pretty neat.

It all depends on what YOU want to do with your life. SF is really hard to get into as they have the hardest, toughest training of all. Are you single, any kids? IF you are single, stay that way for a while, it will let you focus on the job/task at hand. Good luck on your decesion(s), they are difficult ones that will shape your future, so choose where YOU want to be.

God Bless and Thanks if you do.
I would take full advantage of the offers of advice from the men who have offered. Experience is the most valuable tool in the box.

Andy505,

I never regretted my service in the U.S. Army. I served from 64 through 67. My Army experience let me know that I could do just about anything if given the opportunity and the appropriate training.

Whatever your decision, if you want the Rangers or SF, go for it and if you get the chance, don't give up, or give in. You will survive the training !!

Thanks to young men like you and your brother, we still have the greatest country in the world.

Tom

If your set on the Army the go far it but, and there is always a but in life the Navy will take you right into the Spec Warfare program if you pass the PT. test that is the SEALS, also there is the SWCC (special warfare combat craft) which in my opinion rocks but as you can tell I'm bias. If you have any ? just pm me and I will do my best to inform you of any options. I'm also returning for my 5th tour in the middle east this month and it does take a toll on your family life but if you have the right person they will understand. Good luck!!!

I would go to the Army over any other branch, of all the recruiters I talked to he was the only one that didn't have his head up his butt IMO. i didn't go but I still haven't ruled it out... One of my close friends went to the Marines and is going for sniper, he is deffinately dedicated enough to make it, he lives and breathes the military.

I am a SFC in the US Army. First what is your MOS (JOB)? If you are infantry I would suggest going through Airborne school then Ranger school. Most do not know this but 99% of the special forces are teachers for other countrys military. They are not the special forces you see on TV. If you are looking a Special ops stuff go Ranger first then if it is your cup of tea try for Delta force. They are the true elite... Most all services have the say thing. They are go to each others school. Navy seals go thru Ranger and airborne, Delta goes thru Navy dive school, Recon (Marines) go thru them to. I had all of the above in some of my schools. Good luck in what ever you choose!!! PS. Be prepared not to be home with the family to much.

Thanks fellas for all the encouragement and advice! I am single and have no children so I am good to go for almost anything. Right now I am 99% sure I will be entering the service. (and I mean 99% as in something very drastic will have to happen in my life for me not to)

So once my brother gets home from Germany, we will go and talk to the recruiter and see what options I have. I am thinking going to go with the "Ranger Contract" (at least this is what I hear to ask for) From what I understand that seems to be the best path for my success. (but if I am wrong please correct me!! as I need to be as well informed as possible) Once my Ranger training is done with then I will decide if I want to do Special Forces or something else.

I cant wait to get started!
