jerry cans
I continue to hope one of our Canadian forum members will identify a store in Canada that sells the plastic Scepter military-grade cans.
Please...
Yeah, I know... It is happening in Tx also.. The trouble is, many of the liberal folks living in Travis County (AKA,the People's Republic of Austin) are close to the state's lawmakers that they are helping push the Calif CARB style enviro ideologies onto the rest of the state.
BTW,
Texas' EPA, a humorless bunch comprised of a shotgun marriage between the state's Water and Air quality boards, didn't take kindly about a popular wordplay on their combined agency's new initials, TNRCC, (pronounced "trainwreck"). So, just a few years ago they changed it to TCEQ which was intentionally selected because it couldn't lend itself to being pronounced with anything except the 4 letters..
New name,...Same disaster...

All of those links go to steel cans. Also, a company called Wavian in England makes steel NATO cans and will ship to the US. (Garrett Wade sells the red Wavian cans here in the US.)

Most of the ones I have are 5.4 U.S Gallons.
Red for Gas
Yellow for diesel
blue for water you can buy them anywhere for less than $20.
Dad has some at home that I would say are around 30 years old with nothing wrong with them.
Are you looking for the red ones for gas or the yellow ones for diesel? I will see want they want for them and If they can be shipped to the states. Send me a message I will let you know as quick as posssible Garry.
James I found those jerry cans you were looking for they are made by Scepter. They are the tall style of jerry can yellow for diesel red for gas and blue for kerosene. Pm me I will fill you in and the details for these cans. Garry
SoTex,the problem is.....that as goes Cal.goes the rest of the country,it just takes a little longer. Some of us remember when the air districts were formed everybody said no way, you've got to be kidding.Uh no they were not kidding and now everything has smog eqpt.on it.Calif.kinda shafted platers, drycleaners, refineries, all kinds of degreasing operations, paint operations(low voc's),R-12 and the list goes on.All in the name of save this and that.
Now, they have taken some of this pollution stuff to an extreme. Do we really need cars and trucks so clean we can practically breath the exhaust coming out? Why should all California businesses have to replace perfectly good diesel vehicles with clean diesel? Do we really need 100+ different gasoline blends that cause shortages and higher prices?
I lived in California in the late 1970s and the smog was some nasty stuff to breath.
Okay folks. Here is the story. One of our Canadian members contacted Scepter directly. They gave him the name of two retailers in Canada whom they thought might be willing to ship military jerry cans to the US.
No dice. I phoned both the retailers and they are willing to ship to the US only if they can ship directly to a US military base on a US military purchase order.
BUT, both retailers stated they can ship within Canada all day every day. And they both reported they have US customers who had orders shipped to friends near the US-Canadian border and then drove over the border and picked up the cans.
The shipping cartons are made to hold 5 cans, so ordering in quantities of 5 minimizes shipping costs. Price is approximately C$70 for the can and C$30 for the nozzle (would be slightly cheaper in US$).
The forum member who contacted Scepter volunteered to ship the units on to me if I order them shipped directly to his house. I also have a Canadian friend living in New Jersey who drives to Toronto often, so one way or another I should finally be able to obtain these hard-to-get jerry cans!
Whew; what a pain.
Cheers,

If you have a base near you see if they have a DRMO lot on the base. This is were we take gear that we have replaced or that is broken or phased out to get it taken off our inventory. The DRMO will more then likely sell you the cans they have for near nothing.
Oh, I’ve done a whole mess of research on this ridiculous quest for diesel cans. I phoned the DRMO at Warner-Robins base here in Georgia and they won’t sell these cans directly to the public either.
I really think Canada (or ebay) are the only viable options.
