Jeep/Cummins Question

My mom has a 1990 Jeep Wrangler that has a 5 speed manaul transmission, with 160,000 miles on it. I was wondering if it was possible to swap the 6 cyl gas motor with a Cummins? If so, how hard would it really be? Is there a adapter kit to use or does it all have to be done home made?
If people can put them in ferds, why cant it be done in a jeep?
Thanks,
Wheelo

I've seen pics of a Wrangler with a 4BT in it. A six would be way too long and heavy, but the four seems just about right.

If I were you, I would investigate that transmission first. You just might think twice!

I've seen a Jeep with a 4bt in person before, and it really looks cool, and runs even better.

because a cummins with a transmission is about the size of a jeep.. probably close in weight too.

Yeah I know about the transmission, and considering the milage, I would probably buy a crashed truck and hopefully "fit" it all.
Thanks for all the comments,
