It's A Beautiful Day In This Neighborhood....
Re:It's A Beautiful Day In This Neighborhood....
I remember seeing him on a TV bloopers show years ago trying to put up a pup tent for the kids. It wasn't goiong very well and needless to say, he was uttering some words that you never heard on his kids show. It was funny to see some one of that nature talking like that. His hair was messed up, his sweater was all wrinkled and he was cussing up a storm. I'm sure the kids will miss him but the reruns will go on for ever.

He was also an ordained Presbetyrian (sp) minister. I'm sure he is in a better place.

Our 8 yr old heard about it on the radio while waiting on the bus. I'm sure she will maliciously tell our 5 yr old this afternoon. That's going to be fun. :

I loved watching Mr. Rogers. I have a question. There are rumors and stuff flying around school (yes, high schools kids still like Mr. Rogers) that the reason he always wore long sleeve shirts is cause he has tattoos on his arm of every soilder he killed in Vietnam. Is that true?

Do a yahoo search for Fred Rogers.

He was an ordained minister, and studied music in college.
The rumors of his being a sniper in 'Nam were exactly that.....rumors.

You knew he was an icon when Saturday Night Live did a spoof on him. I, too, grew up watching him and feel this world has been diminished by his passing.

Some of this crap that is on TV nowadays for the kids is ridiculuous. I believe that Mr Rogers, Captain Kangaroo, Romper Room (realy going back now) and a few others still had some educational value.
This crap nowadays, most of it, is garbage. I've seen ads for video games that I wouldn't take if they gave them to me and kids have access to that stuff.
What's up with that?

I just learned something on an old interview played today. He did some of the voices of the puppets. I didn't realize he was the one operating the puppets which is why you never saw him visit the land of make believe.

It usually takes quite a few beers but you'd be suprised the stuff I come up with while I'm there.

I go to the land of 5.9 make believe pretty often. Psshhhhh, oops, here I go again. Saw a big rabbit wearing a wrist watch the last time I was there.

Mr "R" can never be replaced but I hope there is someone out there that will kinda take his place and keep on the tradition. The kids need someone to relate too anyway. There was an article on him on one of the news programs this evening where he talked about the sad things like the death of a pet or divorce. I wonder if anyone else takes the time to talk to the kids like that anymore.
