Hoss,
I bought my 80gb. Ipod at Best Buy also but beware, they are being sued right now for marking up the prices.
I had them price match my 80gb. And got back $20.00 plus a $15.00 iTunes card.
Then I went to buy a USB charger, The price everywhere was $29.00 but Best Buy had them in their ad for $39.00 and you got a free $15.00 iTunes card I also checked Wal Mart and had them for $28.00 but I wanted the free Itunes card. Wal Mart was out of them at this store so the lady gave me the price tag from the shelf with the UPC and price on it.
I took this to Best Buy and ask the lady it they price match and she said yes we do so I said I want the USB charger for $29.00 and she said I cant take that much off and give you the Itunes card. I showed her the price tag and she accused me of printing out the card on my computer so I could as she said "double dip".. By now I was getting mad so I ask for the manager and she said I am the manager (they always are) I said I see how you can give away a free $15.00 card when you jack up the price to pay for it. She said we do not. I walked away to find the manager of the store which I do know after an incident where I had my $1500.00 digital camera in for repairs and one of the technicians dropped it on the lens.
About 5 minuets later the same lady walked up to me and ask if I still wanted the charger AND the free card and I said it depends?
She said she got on the store computer and checked on the Apple store website www.apple.com and guess what the price was only $29.00 and I guess Best Buy was overcharging the customers on all of the Apple products. So she said if I still wanted it she would give it to me for the lower price. I said ok but I also want the difference plus 10%. Her face turned red and then said ok. I ask her how do you think they can give away a $15.00 iTunes card away for free? Simple when you overcharge for the Apple part first.
I am not saying Best Buy is a bad place uh… but I find most of the sales people are rude and treat you like you are dumb.
Still I would defiantly get the extended warranty on the Ipod as well as any electronic item, and be persistent with the repairs, they have replaced many of my high dollar items with new ones.
It also helps to have good relationship with the store manager and keep meticulous records when something is in for repair.
I have a folder for each item and as I am talking to the tech I am writing down what was said with names, time and dates.
If you get it at Best Buy then have them price match it with Wal Mart or Target. Also make sure they put it on your Rewards card.
I am not bashing them; this is just my ongoing experience.
Then after this I find they are being sued for price gouging and other shady practices.

I get along with the Geeks because of my extensive electronics background but most of the sales people act like they know everything and you are just a poor lost sheep asking for their worldly advice.
Not saying all are bad the camera dept has some knowledgeable people and I have met a few nice managers.
I like a store where the customer doesn't have to fight for what he wants. First you can never find someone to help you then when they come you wonder why you asked.
Returns are another thing; they give you the third degree on why you don't want it and then they will mail you a check from corporate.
I now shop extensively at Fry's, I know they are not cheaper but you can return anything with no questions asked.
And the people are allot more friendly.
I spend on average $1000.00 a month there.
Sorry for getting off the subject for Hoss.

Had no problem with their price or their service last night. They were asking $249 for the 30 GB iPod, which is exactly what Apple has it listed for if you try to buy it directly from them. Walked in, told them what I wanted, they pulled it out, I paid and left. Simple as that.
I don't usually go into any store expecting a sales person to be able to give me advice. I usually do enough research ahead of time that I know pretty much exactly what I want when I get there.
Now, I must say, I absolutely love this thing. I was up until midnight last night putting songs and stuff on it before I had to force myself to go to bed. Greatest thing since sliced bread.

I bought one for my car that plugs into the cigarette lighter. It serves as a cradle dock to hold the iPod while also charging it and transmitting an FM signal to the car stereo. Works very well.

Well, I spent a few hours over the weekend importing CD's to the new iPod. I currently have the entire Bible (1,189 chapters plus 66 book introductions) plus approximately 540 songs from several different genres. Good stuff.
All of that adds up to about 6.5 Gigs, so I'm glad I went with the 30 Gig unit instead of the 4 or 8 Gig unit. Plenty of room to add more stuff.
