Internet SCAM

I don't know if I should post this here but I figure it will be moved or removed.

The reason I am posting this is, I had a truck for sale on this site. I was contacted by a gentlemen that said he was from over seas. The deal was that he was to send a cashiers check with the amount plus enough to western union to a shipping company to have the truck shipped. I know now it sounds fishy, it is.

The scam goes like this, They send a fake cashier check. The your bank cashs it in good faith. You western union the money to the company and they pick up the item being sold.

Your bank then will notify you that you own them money for the bad check and you are out the money you wired. And the truck that was never sent overseas. It was driven out of state and sold.

I lucky called the issueing bank to see if the check was good. They where the one that explained the scam to me. They stated that most of the checks are coming for England.

So if you know any one that is selling anything and they have a buyer that is asking them to ship the article for them. Have that person verify the cashiers check before doing anything.

Thanks once again if I have posted and should not have I am sorry but it is good information for those selling.l

Always good to bring these things up again. It has been going around for awhile. Kind of makes you leary of any dealings that are not face to face.
I'm so cautious that when I sold a harley to a guy out of state he brought me a cashiers check & some $100 bills & we took it to my bank & had them verify the check by calling the bank it was issued by along with the bills.

I had a friend that had that exact same thing happen to her, only she was selling horses and not a truck...its a shame how some people can be so idiotic to do that to us. Almost as bad as terrorism
